Okay, here's deal. My 2004 car broke down Saturday and is in the shop. Because it's taking so long they gave me a loaner car.

It's a 2009. OH BABE THIS THING IS TRICKED OUT. Oh, it's going to be hard to give it back, for my 2004 beater. (;) )

(But hey, the 2004 gets paid off soon, and in THIS economy I intend to keep the 2004 as long as she will run! )

Anyway, it has AM/FM/Sirius/CD/MP3 capability. I looked over the instructions and I can't figure out how to use the mp3 capability.

Does anyone have a 2009 car and know how to use the blammed thing? I want to try it before I have to give the car BACK. ;)

Help me somebody!

;)

it's probable that they mean the player supports mp3 cd's.

if that's the case, just burn a bunch of mp3's to a cd and go to town.

that's exactly what it means - the player can read an mp3 file vs. a standard wav file.

instead of a cd with 20 or so songs (standard format), you could burn a cd with ~200 songs and the player would read and play the compressed mp3 format.

What a pain in the ass!

Yuck who wants to even touch a yucky CD in this day and age? What the hell is this, 1988?

I'm quite fond of CD players that read MP3s on a CD, but it would be nice if they made an audio player that would read MP3s on a DVD.

My '09 is MP3-capable. I play my iPod in it all the time. You have to get a connecting cable (if you don't already have one), that will plug your MP3 into the auxillary jack on the radio. Once it's plugged in, press the "AUX" button and your MP3 will play through the speakers. This wonderful little function enables you to play your MP3 without having to use the contraptions that require you to find a "dead" FM frequency to listen through. Much better and easier. The cord shouldn't cost you much more than 5-10 bucks.
