Just a reminder for all the people that live in the Midwest that tornado season is now here. Find out what room to use as your safe room, stockpile water, and remember your DUCK: Downstairs, Underneath something, Center of the house, Keep away from windows.

We have a storm bearing down on us right now and Oklahoma has been hit by several tornadoes the past couple days, so I thought it would be a good idea to remind everyone. Also, don't forget to keep good batteries in your camera. A good video camera is a must for everyone who grew up in tornado alley- just go inside if the tornado is heading in your direction.

Sirens are sounding now, but they said it's only 80 MPH straight winds and not a tornado. Hopefully my fence stays up!

Yeah I make sure to prepare every year. I try to be safe, but one of my friends is a storm chaser so I have gone along with him a few times, if you every have somebody that knows what they are doing it can be a neat experience.

One regret is that when I lived in North Texas I didn't get in on a chase or two or a whole lot.

I used to get stuck in traffic with storm chasers in the off season when they would be commuting to and from work and I could recognize their vehicles and them from the Science Channel specials on Tornadoes.

Take care!

Straight line winds can do damage if they get the chance.

Not what anyone wants to be caught out in, a piece of debris flying at 80 mph can kill.

I had the back end of my car lifted off the ground in a parking lot in Richardson Texas from straight line wind gusts.

I still remember it, jamming on the brakes for all I was worth, as if that was going to keep me from going over... :))

Same here.

I just got into a heated dispute with my cable provider over this. They were issuing false Emergency Alerts (the kind where EAS shows on your cable box and you cannot navigate away from the channel).

But worse than them being unwarranted and kind of crying wolf...

You were forced to watch a guy sell his real estate book or Girls Gone Wild. And you cannot get rid of it.

I can't remember ever getting that ****ed at a company, because living in this area, I do take EAS and tornados seriously. Nice to see someone else does, too.

Hope your fence stayed up.

We lost two sides of a fence in 60 mph straight line winds.

I'll never forget walking out of the supermarket with my dad when I was about 7 years old. I literally had to hold on to his hand, because I was blowing away. :))
