I just got a call from my brother that my dad isn't doing to well...
He is well into his 80's and has had a good long life but his health has taken a turn that I had not anticipated...
He has Congestive heart failure and the doctors are saying he could live anywhere from from 2 days to two years...
My brother said that he seems like he is ready to go home...
I would like to get home to see him again before he passes but work and other things are a very hectic right now...I know he would want me to do the responsible thing...He always taught me that...So I feel like leaving at this time would be disrespectful if that makes any sense.
Please pray for my dad that whatever happens he will be comfortable and at peace...

Makes perfect sense to me. My dad was the same way.
I pray that his Homecoming be joyful, full of peace and dignity, suffering allayed -- nothing but happiness and soft, gentle goodbyes as he boards the Mayflower for the New World where he shall hear the Voice of the LORD Himself proclaim, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
And I pray that his precious sons shall know they have been entrusted with continuing his mission on this earth, well prepared to take the lead in his place until their own day to board the Ship for Home comes.
And I pray that you shall have the chance to see him before he boards that Ship, to say those farewells, to find comfort and consolation in memories of a sweet Crossing for a man you honor as is pleasing to the LORD.
May the Peace of Christ which passes all understanding take root in your heart this day to sustain you for all the days to come.

I have always sensed that regardless of anything, you were a good person, I know your Dad has to be proud. I lost my Dad in 2000, I feel your despair, God bless you and yours.

My dad always said pick a job you love and do your BEST at it....
I'm a waiter at a very successful restaurant on the strip in Vegas and I LOVE MY JOB...
So as to that point???...I'm sure my dad is very proud of me...:D

Good for her!
GO!
And we'll be praying for a safe, healing, joyful trip with only gentle healing tears on the way to and then back to that job you love.
My own father's much repeated admonishment: "If a job's worth doing at all, it's worth doing RIGHT! And I'll have no slouchy sloppy trash work from a daughter of mine, young lady."
I'm sure your father IS proud of you.
The honor is not in the type of work we do.
It's in how we do the job.
And the only real question is, what job makes our hearts and minds rejoice in the doing.
I know some very miserable PhDs who HATE their jobs with a passion, especiallly the teaching side of our profession. NOT a good thing, that.

Just to let hose that are praying know..My dad has been pain free but slipped into a mild coma and had to be put on a resperator a few days ago...
I think he is about ready to go home and be with the Lord...And his Mother..
They are going to take him off of the resperator today at 3:00pm CST...
I'm not sure he will live through the day...
Thank you all for your prayers...It means a lot to me.
I think it is a positive that he will be reunited with his Mother in Heaven the day after Mothers Day...
I love you all and thank you again for the prayers and kind words...

Hello Roger,
Your Dad is in my prayers to the 'Big Guy'. I simply hope and pray that he is made comfortable and my guess is that he is quite prepared for his next journey. I think we all face that inevitable day with the forethought that it may just be time to take the greatest adventure of all. Of course, only God has that timetable and I think he somehow communicates it to us. Perhaps this is the greatest 'Mystery' that Faith has to offer.
Please try to be well in all the stresses and strains that come along with your Faith and that of your Dad.

Hello everyone. This is Roger's fiancee Ann (I hope I don't get in trouble for posting on his account). I know how much all of your prayers have meant to him. He could really use some right now. He is at work and dealing with bad news. So please keep praying for him and I am sure he will be on later to gain the comfort that I know you all provide for him.
Thank you!

Your being honest and that's admirable, will keep praying. You should set up an account and chat on here with us. Perhaps the Mods. could assist if you both use the same computer.

Roger...I am praying for you. Your Dad is now on a journey that will take away his pain and bring him home to our Savior...I imagine that your Mom is ready for him to once again be by her side. I am so very sorry for all that is happening...please know that you and Ann are in my prayers.
God Bless:hug:
Dear God,
Experiencing the loss of a loved one is so heart breaking.
It’s so difficult to greet each day when their loss has left them empty and numb.
Help our friend fill that void with the focus of the wonderful memories him and his Dad shared.
Allow him to feel the comfort and gentle encouragement of your angels whispering that his loved one is safe and happy with you.
Please nourish him with your love and give him the strength and will to carry on.
Amen

Roger, good luck and strength. You have always been a fair minded and honest person. An opponent who treats others with respect and dignity, a trait I can guarantee you learned from your father. The both of you are good men and we all are better for knowing you. I wish you well and our father peace during this time.

I just wanted to thank all of you for the very special support and prayers...
Prayers were answered in ways you guys will never know...
But just KNOW that God met many needs related to travel, comfort and other things....And the ways in which those answers came about was truly Miraculous...Obviously an answer to prayer.
I love you all and thank you for your support....
