The LORD put us on this earth with a first commandment, to "tend the earth and have dominion over it" -- which dominion includes intercessory prayer for all His creatures -- especially the beloved animal buddies of a child.
Besides which, it is not the object of the prayer or the answer to the prayer that is the greatest gain from praying: it is the act of connecting with something MUCH greater than ourselves -- the praying itself -- which is the greatest gain, gain for the one who does the praying, not just for those we intercede for.
Prayers for a ferret called Chase, beloved companion of a child called Smurfy, right?
He Who IS knows all the rest that needs knowing. And we'll trust Him to set right that which is topsy-turvy, out of order, made to hurt by a world turned to chaos and disorder because of our own rebellions.
And prayers for you to be a strong and wise friend, able to assist your friend and his ferret.
What does the vet say?

Good deal.
This gives me cause for thanksgiving to the LORD.
The hearts of children are tender and soft, and their love for their pets is genuine bonding which teaches them much about how to bond with other people later.
It is good when they are spared the grief that can also come with such bonding.
 to your friend and her ferret. God shelter them both and bless them with long life to show your Smurfy His salvation.

I suppose some folks (including me) may just think 'praying' for a pet, anyone's pet, is just a wee bit silly. After reading these posts; I have concluded that this is no more silly than praying for those in dire straights. It's not easy for me to relate to in any event cause I don't have any pets other than the wildlife that surrounds the environs where I live.
I pretty much don't bother them, other than marveling at their presence, and they seem just as happy to tolerate me and leave me be. I'll just have to find out if they felt the same about my existence when I get to that place where such things may be understood (by me anyways). I certainly don't get it in the here and now.
An old Irish song came to mind which, methinks, sums it all up in a sweet tidy manner.
"All Of God's Creatures Have a Place in the Choir"

What may seem very trivial to me could also be something that is a focal point of much importance at times to an individual who loves an animal or a host of them.
So....You, Smurfy Herself, and her pet ferret Chase do indeed have my prayers simply because all of us critters are each uniquely, one of 'God's Creatures'. I hope and pray that this may just tickle the 'Big Guy's' funny bone a wee bit. It tickles mine a tad and gives me a wee bit of joy to write this.
Be well along with Smurfy and that lovely ferret Chase,
Jim
PS: To all the folks in the OO; I made two trips to the Falls over the weekend and was able to have some limited 'talks' with the 'Big Guy' and will be doing so again later today for both the praying and taking some pics (finally got a throw away camera) for the posting in the 'Falls Album'.
Be well All,
Jim
