There was a thread a while back where a few people were discussing the Shamwow and other TV products. I couldn't find that thread.

I noticed they had the mini Shamwows at Wal-Mart. A 2 pack for 7 dollars. I had to give it a try.

I'm pretty impressed. As incredibly annoying as Vince is, the product is awesome. It really does have advantages over normal paper towels or cloth towels. The most impressive part in my opinion is that it can continue to work when it's wet. I took a salad bowl and filled it with water. I was able to absorb water, wring it out, then absorb more until most of the water was gone. Finally I wrung it out one more time and dried the bowl. It was bone dry. You can wring out a cloth towel, but not to the point that you can totally dry a surface. I could have dried my whole truck with this mini shamwow after washing it.

Someone needs to combine the shamwow with a snuggy.

Instant millions.

Can you seriously put it on top of a piece of carpet and magically suck all of the water down to the floorboards? Because I don't see how that can work without suction.

This dubbed version of the Shamwow video is pretty hilarious:

I haven't tried that yet. I'll have to get a piece of carpet to test on.

I imagine it will get all the water up if you haven't allowed it to sit for very long.

I don't get it.

But I'm sure a shamwow would clean up the aftermath. ( for the next ... rest of your life ... years. )

Commercial doesn't discuss its crime scene capabilities, but you're probably right.

Shamwows are environmentally friendly because you can keep reusing them. But honestly, it probly doesn't very long for paper towels to break down.

When my wife and I are shopping, either one of us can usually justify a cheap purchase if it's something for the house and not just something for us personally. She couldn't see any reason to buy them. I went on to explain to her that these are not just for the house, but also the boat and the RV. We don't own a boat or RV.

I did try soaking up water that had soaked through a carpet. And believe it or not, it did work. I colored the water a little with food coloring, so that stained the carpet. But it did manage to get the water up through the bottom of the carpet.

If the water had soaked through padding and into the floor boards, it might not work. It's not going to suck water out of boards. I used a small 8x8 inch sqaure of carpet with no pad.

I agree. Picked up a box at BB&B a couple weeks ago and I have to admit that they do work as advertised.

We also use them for burp cloths - after washing them of course.

And from one source I heard, Shamwows, although a good product are highly overpriced. Better to go get just a regular old Chamois and do the same thing for like half the price or less. That's all they are, Chamois with good and irritating marketing.

If you don't mind drying your stuff with a dead cow - sure.

On one of the news channels, they had a segment on Billy Mays. They showed one clip of him at a show with the Shamwow guy. How awesome is that?

I don't think real chamois are made from rayon.

Yes, the world's rayon heards have been descimated since the introduction of the Sham Wow.

Very similar to the vast herds of Naugas that roamed the American plains up until the 1950s when they were unceremoneously butchered for the hydes.

I tell you what...my wife has spilled grape juice AND cherry Kool-Aid on our white carpet in the last two weeks or so, and these suckers got ALL of it up without leaving so much as a faint stain. You DO have to get to it quickly though...lost a battle with a tea stain last night because I didn't see it right away.
