I grew up IN an orchard my Dad was the foreman of a huge ranch.

Picking fruit is a hard job but the pay checks were great! I still remember my first pay check I had to have been only seven my Sis and I picked cherries and got our own pay checks we thought we were rolling in the dough! :lol:

the owner of the orchard was great and it also had cherry trees but different season, him and his wife were so nice to us, we used fake names and funny thing is we never had a problem cashing our checks, he invited us to come pick oranges at his orchard on lake okeechobie in florida when it started snowing and we packed up to leave my girlfriend who was a fantastic cooked backed 2 huge apple pies and left them on their porch the night we left

My Mom loved canning so we had fruit all year round.

We had it all apples, peaches, cherries, pears and plums.

I loved going to the "experiment station" with my Dad. They had a few trees that had apples, peaches and pears all growing on the same tree by grafting! It was SO COOL.

I helped my dad graft a tree and had two different types of apples growing on it.

This brought back a lot of great memories. :D

Oh well that is kewl. I live in NW houston. But very excited to be moving away from here. I never really liked it. Too big, and kinda ugly. Especially when you come from living in downtown Chicago!!

A very small town kinda near Tuscaloosa, kinda near birmingham, and yet close to Tupelo MS. And yes Free is correct it is a dry county!! But the good news is it 's only about 20 to 25 minutes to a not dry county. So no biggie!!
