Best of luck, these are trying times and hopefully we will come out on the other side stronger because of it like others before us. Prayers sent.

It does help.

We're all of us having to pare the excesses, getting shoved back to the ultimate in bare bones subsistence, I think.

One of my kids is now declaring bankruptcy, getting their student loans deferred, paring back super hard. And we're not able to help them as we did this time last year, either.

It bites.

But we'll all get through this mess together and come out tougher, cleaner, truer when the hard times end. Just like our grandparents did.

My prayers for you personally joing the others. And prayers for everyone suddenly in the financial hole from hell.

(((HUGS))) Thanks so much.
And effecting the wife harder than me. On the emotional front.

I've always been a thrift store/garage sale shopper and that helps a lot. I've also noticed our local store puts throw away breads/baked goods that are perfectly fine out for throw or giveaway. If you have cable internet, you can get rid of cable tv and sign up for netflix, or there is a retro tv website that's free. You need a laptop or one of these little netflix boxes to queue up movies. You can call all your service and insurance companies to look for ways to reduce your rates. It never hurts to ask or shop around. You can stretch a food buck pretty good with pasta dishes like spagetti. Pool together with friends for a Costco membership. Mend the clothing and find workarounds. I'm the queen of kluge, ask me a question!

You and my husband, both!

He buys yesterday's meats at less than half their cost by being in the store when it opens at 6 am -- and keeps a very close eye on food sales to buy as much as we can when the stores are running loss-leaders. Buying in bulk and ONLY what's on sale saves us even more than purchasing clubs like Costco and Sam's.

But my sympathy is very much aligned with EW's wife.

You fight for years to build a home and prepare for when you're too old to fight any longer -- think you've finally got a half-decent life laid by for tomorrow -- and watch it all go up in smoke in less than a year's time.

It's a terrifying phenomenon, since the one thing you treasure most in this world, your family, is getting hurt badly through no fault of their own -- and there's nothing you can do to stop the landslide suddenly hanging over their heads and beginning to shift downward.

Hello 'EW',

My prayers for you and your Family were in my talks with the 'Big Guy' at the Falls Bridge yesterday afternoon. May He send you all His Blessings for this asking with a big dose of hope and very real things to get you all through these rough times.

Be well with your Family,

Jim
