I was literally sickened by the latest news of the Obama administration removing a sacred faith symbol for the name of Jesus at Georgetown University during a speech.
Especially considering that our founding fathers constructed our constitiution based on those exact commandments in which the symbol represented.
Whether someone is religious or not religious the basis of good that the commandments represent is what our country was founded on and I find this latest stunt to be one of the most disenheartning acts of any presidents in my lifetime.
Being proud of my country and the principles it was founded on
is exactly what we are taught growing up and part of why I'am proud to live in America.
Needless to say there is lot more to comment about on the subject but I thought I would open the discussion to everyones opinon regardless.
What a Mess things have become.....

If they had left it uncovered, would you then accuse Obama of indulging in some sort of "messiah complex"?

No.
No one accused Bill Clinton of that when he stood beneath that symbol, or Kerry, or Gore, or Lieberman, or Kofi Anan, or Madeline Albright et al.
Not unless Barack began spewing more of this sort of rhetoric:
"... I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth..."
But of course that would not be because of the symbol but because of his words.

Just another case of Obama haters pulling things out of context. Quite common recently...
http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Jesus-Missing-From-Obamas-Georgetown-Speech.html
"Julie Bataille from the university's press office e-mailed me that the White House had asked that all university signage and symbols behind the stage in Gaston Hall be covered.
"The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they've done for other policy speeches," she wrote. "Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn't high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context."
While the "IHS" directly behind where Obama spoke was covered over, CNSNews.com said the monogram was still visible in 26 other places in the hall during his speech. Those areas just weren't as prominent."
I agree, but I think this still a misstep by the Obama folks and illustrates their clumsiness regarding religious issues.
Obama is not being well advised by his secular staff who seem to have a tin ear on religion.
I bett htat they didnt even know what the IHS stood for or that it was part of the logo.
I am more ashamed of the Catholic school administration who DID KNOW and still agreed to the arrangement so that they could kiss the Presidents... elbow.

Yes we all know now that is the White House line on this, but I still haven't found anyone to fess up on why "if" President Obama wanted such a backdrop of simplicity did he not choose a different, and secular, venue for his speech?
Why choose to go to a non-secular venue and try to turn it secular with blatant political obfuscation?
That is just dumb.
Wonder if he will ask Notre Dame college to hide their non-secular symbols when he gives the graduation commencement address there this year?

You must be really happy, then, that Obama quoted the Sermon on the Mount.
