Were originally planning a combination of New York and Rhode Island for golf, lobster, shows, museums and general assorted mayhem. After getting hammered by Uncle Sam for about $6K more taxes than last year, we've revised our plans and will probably spend a fun filled week up in Jellystone.

The access rd to Ft. Pickins is still closed and looks like it may never be repaired. But it's just a short boat ride.

Savannah...aaaah...it is in my near future. Have a ball and tell me all about it. My niece is named Savannah.
Charleston is great. Look for the "street couple" who makes flowers out of palm tree leaves. I still have mine. Very cool people.
Various weeks off this summer. 2 the end of July. The beaches and mountains of course. :D And a return trip to Camden Yards for sure. Already warned Tate!

I know someone taking an Alaskan Cruise this summer ... wonder if it's the same one.
have a wonderful, wonderful time.
I loved Alaska. we caught so much halibut and ate it for months. I was sad when we ate the last of it. Need to get back up there and do some fishing.
and the whales....saw them up close and personal.
got a bit too close to an iceberg breaking off ... that was a bit scary, but exciting at the same time.
have a great, great time!!

Well, at least I can enjoy seeing where everyone else is going. My vacation savings has been diverted with my youngest daughter's announcement that she is getting married next spring. And with work the way it is, I might be spending my summer in beautiful Dearborn, MI

What would you be up to in Dearborn? Lake Huron is just an hours drive away from Dearborn......

Probably going up to Cape Cod at some point during the summer (father-in-law has a place up there and all of the extended family stays there intermittently during the summer).
Other than that, softball and volleyball will take up most of my time.

Do you camp? There is some great camping up in Port Huron.
And rememeber...you have weekends too...just head up north for the weekend....you got Mackinac, Traverse City, Charlevoix....all lakefront vacation destinations that dot the upper part of the lower penninsula.
Michigan is chalked full of vacation spots.
BTW...glad to hear you love Detroit...it gets a bad wrap but that is only by people who have never been there :D

Thanks for the suggestions Ski. I'll have to check some of those out. I do love the outdoors, so I should be able to find something to do on the weekends. As far as Detroit, I think the area around Cobo, the riverfront and the new casinos are great! I used to love going to old Tiger Stadium.
