I have a computer question. Specifically it's about computer systems and access to the internet.
I have heard of a site called gotomypc.com. Supposedly you can access your computer from any other computer. You can see and access your desktop from anywhere.
My question, if anyone's familiar with it. If I'm at work and I want to access my computer at home, can I play games on my computer, particularly ones that are blocked here?
IOW, can I use Go To MY PC to get around a firewall?

You should be able to but it's not designed for playing games. Solitare should be fine. FPS? Not a chance. The lag would be the death of you.
Any any IT worth their salt would see the huge amount of encrypted traffic to and from your PC and would be on you like stink on a monkey.

Lag! Dammit! Forgot about that! I'm sure that playing an MMORPG would be nearly impossible then.

OTOH, I don't think we even have IT guys up at this time a night. I think they trust the firewalls.

I can monitor network traffic bandwidth used, type of traffic, hostname AND ip address of anybody on my network day or night. All I would have to do is set parameters for alerts to be sent to my blackberry and I would then login and see whats up. Just because IT guys are not on site they are not far away.
tsk, tsk, tsk LOL

Get a Verizon wireless broadband access card and take your laptop to work with you.
The only other option involves stuff that could get you fired.

GOTOMPC is a great tool but it is not a way to circumvent network security. And as was mentioned as well, it is lacking in colors and speed and the lag time is unacceptable for even the most basic of gaming.
