TLC's Duggars: First grandchild is on the way

Apr 13th, 2009 | SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Josh and Anna Duggar are following in the family tradition.

Josh Duggar, the eldest of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's 18 children, announced Monday that he and his wife, Anna, are about to start their own brood. The couple, who were married in September, said Anna Duggar is due Oct. 18.

"I am three months right now and feeling great. Morning sickness is pretty much all gone, and so we're looking forward to the birth of our baby," Anna Duggar told NBC's "Today" show Monday.

The Duggars live in northwest Arkansas and are featured on TLC's "18 Kids and Counting." Michelle Duggar gave birth in December to their youngest child, Jordyn-Grace. They are also parents to Jana, 19; John-David, 19; Jill, 17; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 15; Joseph, 14; Josiah, 12; Joy-Anna, 11; Jeremiah, 10; Jedidiah, 10; Jason, 8; James, 7; Justin, 6; Jackson, 4; Johannah, 3; and Jennifer, 2.

Josh Duggar said he and Anna haven't yet picked out a name.

"We're pretty sure we're not going to go with J," he said.

Josh, 21, and Anna, 20, live in Springdale, where they run a car dealership. Josh said he and Anna are frequently asked whether they'll have a large family.

"We have committed leaving that area up to God as far as our family size," he said.

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar said they're thrilled about becoming grandparents.

While I normally could not support a family that treats a uterus like a clown car...

the Duggars take care of themselves. Gotta give them props for that.

And they are good people on top of that.

I agree 100% Josh won't be any different I suspect.

My only thought on the "subject" is that if they want as many as God will give what if Josh loses his business after like 5 or 6 kids? What if he then can't find work. Does he still just reproduce all willy nilly? I suspect that Michelle and Jim Bob have financial security after all these years.

I don't see them living off the dole.

Why does everyone see fit to pick on the Duggars and yet "Octo-Mom" is looked on as a miracle mom and gets more media coverage than Miley Cyrus? I think the exact opposite is true. Michelle and Jim-Bob Duggar have had and raised 18 good children, have never sought govt. assistance, are not in debt up to their eyeballs and believe in God, apple pie and Mom and yet they are pilloried or looked on as "odd" because they have and want as many children as God gives them. Nadya Suleman (or whatever her name is), had 6 children, has no husband, had 8 more children and expects --- yes, dear reader, expects --- and assumes the govt. will take care of her. WE are the govt. and although it's truly a miracle she carried 8 babies to term, she is NOT entitled to take money from me or anyone else in order to support herself and her 14 children. PLEASE stop criticizing the Duggars for wanting to have as many children as God sees fit to give them. When my father and my grandfather were alive, a large family was the norm. Now, thanks to (or because of) people like Margaret Sanger and those who invented artificial birth control, women are no longer called to be mothers but are taught from infancy to work outside the home and to put their careers first. And if they get pregnant (after sleeping around with every and any man they can find) and it's inconvenient, no problem - just have it murdered. Is THIS what we've come to in our society? If so, we're headed straight to hell in a handbasket. I thank GOD for the Duggars and wish there were more people like them instead of like the tramps on "Sex in the City" and "Friends."
CONGRATULATIONS, JOSH AND ANNA! MAY YOU HAVE AS MANY CHILDREN AS GOD SEES FIT TO GIVE YOU! It's apparently not a "honeymoon" baby but who cares? This coming October, Jim-Bob and Michelle will be grandparents and Josh's 17 brothers and sisters will be uncles and aunts. It's called FAMILY and it's terrific, it really is. And it's a miracle, too, as is ALL LIFE.
