a.k.a. Good Friday...


spent the day at a friend's house in the woods on the edge of the Atchafalayala Swamp...

many people in attandance...

everyone brought pies...

an old South Louisiana Good Friday tradition...


a free and easy day surrounded by wonderful people...

there was also an excellent cheesecake pie that went pretty quick...


and a blueberry pie that I snuck off and horded for myself...

OMG we are this far into this thread and no one has mentioned the one the only and world famous Natchitoches Meat Pies?

They are sooooooooo awesome. I do a pretty mean port tourtiere as well.

Why do I feel so hungry now?:D

Pecan, custard, raisin, chess, lemon, apple, gooseberry, strawberry-rhubarb. I believe I have never met a pie I did not love. some are just better than others.:rolleyes:

Well, except for Boston Creme Pie...but its an imposter.

And I don't know how anyone can like apple pie, especially after watching American Pie. :eek:

By the way Bayou, I used to live in Gretna years ago. Too Stinkin hot for me, but I like New Orleans alot (mmmmm beignets)

Use to fly in and out of Calendar Field a lot. Apple pie is an American tradition. I'm not gonna let one stupid movie ruin that for me.

Well, cherry pie is my favorite. Followed by peach.

Apple is good too.
