Woman calls 911 over lack of shrimp in fried rice

Wed Apr 8, 12:58 am ET

HALTOM CITY, Texas – A woman called 911 to report she didn't get as much shrimp as she wanted in her fried rice at a Texas restaurant.

Haltom City police on Tuesday released the taped emergency call, in which the customer is heard telling the dispatcher, "to get a police officer up here, what has to happen?"

The customer also says: "He didn't even put extra shrimp in there."

The upset customer had left the Fort Worth-area restaurant when an officer arrived Monday afternoon.

She was waiting in line for shrimp when God handed out the brains.

She should be removed from the gene pool, NOW.

Boo Hoo I didn't get my shrimp!

Send the Police!

HALTOM CITY, Texas - A woman dialed 911 on Monday afternoon to report that she didn’t get extra shrimp in her fried rice order.

The incident happened at A&D Buffalo's in the 4000 block of East Belknap Street.

Restaurant' employees said the woman originally left with her order, but came back claiming she did not get her full $1.62 worth of extra shrimp. Since she had already left the building with her food, they refused to give her a refund.

"She started yelling and screaming, brought her boyfriend in and they started making a scene in here," said Alex Kim, the restaurant's attorney.

Employees said that's when the irate woman called 911 to try to get help from the police.

"I always get the shrimp fried rice, so I said I'm going to get extra meat this time. But he didn’t even put extra shrimp in there," she told the 911 operator.

The woman also told the operator that she demanded either a refund or the additional crustaceans, and that she decided to place the emergency call when she was met with resistance.

"I'm just saying, to get a police officer up here, what has to happen?" the caller asked the operator.

A Haltom City police officer was dispatched to the scene, but the woman was no longer at the restaurant when he arrived.

Not that I would do what she has done, but I have ordered over $20 worh of food at a fast food place, and then recieved someone elses order for like $4.

Now I asked nicely, argued, and finally threatened them....all to no avail. They simply would not make it right.

Heres the sticker....I was making $280 a week back then supporting 3 people...so that $20+ was ALL of our eating out money for the week...we got screwed. Even I knew better than to call the cops.... but what does a person do in that situation when you were just robbed? (theft by service?)

I didn't call the cops, but Karma got them back...they had a rash of flat tires for the next three weeks. I figure...from what I heard *cough*my roomate was a thug *cough*... that something like 20 tires were punctured....must have been that awful construction they had going on....three miles away.

Now..I make plenty and $20 to me is my daily supply of smokes and monster drinks. But back then it was HALF of my discretionary budget for the week.

Its all in perspective. Id like to hear from you guys HOW you are suppose to respond. BESIDES "don't frequesnt that place again".

However, calling the cops is rediculous. But, you know you would call the cops if you just paid $1200 at Best Buy for a TV and they didnt give it to you. Yes you would....

So is it all in the amount?

Frankly, I think this kind of stupidity is why Obama won. I'm serious. I know some people will think this is silly, but I am damn dead serious about this.

We have such an entitlement culture with some people. Remember the woman that said Obama would fill her gas tank and pay her mortgage?

I mean it may seem silly to some to make this political, but I really think this is a symptom to a larger disease.

We have some people in this country that feel so entitled/victimized.

And what do I mean by entitled/victimized? That they think they are some kind of freaking victim if they don't get their extra shrimp, that's it's some kind of "injustice." They are ENTITLED TO THAT EXTRA SHRIMP, DAMMIT!

I mean for pity sake, I've been ripped off by restaurants before, or suffered bad service. I didn't throw a fit, I simply didn't return to that restaurant.

The restaurant gets what's coming to them by losing my business. They rip off enough people, they will probably go out of business.

Seriously, I think there is something wrong in our culture that some people are just simply not learning to grow the hell up!

(I'll get the hell off the soapbox, now. ;) )

That's why I pay with my debit card. Then I have a receipt and a record of my transaction. They wouldn't be able to get away with something like that.

I thought Michael Douglass handled it quite well in that Falling Down movie,
but I never remember to bring automatic weapons to the fast food place.

With all due respect to a fellow honored guest that "mysterious flat tires" as has been insinuated if true is more criminal and asinine than that of being wrong ordered ripped off.

That is really ****ty and is not karma.

The tires that were flattened were probably those of people completely out of the loop regarding food refund policy and probably were tires of people making far less than your $280 a week.

What a scummy thing to do.

I have never had a fast food place refuse to make a bad or mistaken order good if I have immediately returned the food or immediately called the manager.

Even in Texas when I lived there for 13 years.

I don't go through the drive through unless I'm just stopping off for a drink somewhere, or have the dog in the car.

That's why my dad always tells them to put just a little bit of ice. Of course after he found out how much it really costs to make a soda in a fast food joint, he refuses to even get a drink!

I know.

I don't care for fountain drinks from fast food joints.

The quality is inconsistent and the overpricing is just the opposite.

Water is better for me anyway.

People really have gone off the deep end lately.

Either that or people these days have to report on every single thing that happens anywhere and at anytime.

Sooner or later we'll find ourselves being reported on a news article or blog for driving a gas guzzling vehicle or forgetting to cut our lawn in a week.
