I just got off the phone from talking to my little brother. He never was involved in politics, and didn't care much about economic theory.
He owns his own business, a towing / vehicle rescue business. He is doing decently well, despite the downturn.
My brother is a 'down south redneck', with all the trappings- the big 4 wheel drive, hunting dogs, country music, the whole nine yards. But he is also one of the smartest people I know, especially when it comes to cars, trucks, and racing. I often have quipped "My brother can sniff you car exhaust and tell you where the timing is, and what the compression ratio is of each cylinder."
Today, he wasn't calling me about typical redneck things, such as dogs, racing, etc. No, he called me about the state of the US economy, the president, inflation, money printing, Bernanke, Obama, and the like. He wanted my take on everything that I know and forsee about the state of the United States and it's economy. My brother informed me that gun sales are way way up from what he hears on the 'southern streets' and that ammo is very hard to find as well. Even the "local rednecks" have gone from talking about whose truck will win the "mud bog Friday night" to talking about where the USA is headed.
My brother is a hard working down south country boy, and not some slick suited liberal egghead working in an office somewhere. He sees what is happening, and now he wants to save the country to prevent the mess he is seeing. He is not some political genius, or some spokesperson, or some political hack. He is just an average guy who suddenly got interested in 'economics', and 'government spending'. He didn't get interested out of a desire to expand horizons, no-
He got interested because he sees the country he loves falling apart from within, and he wants to know why and how.
I spent an hour telling him everything I know about economics, including all the data I have compiled over the last 6 months. He was amazed, and it made sense to him, as everything I said to him fell into place with what he sees on the street. Well, today my brother said that he wanted to be a part to save America, and he is going to dig into every bit of information he can find on what the government is up to, and to where we are headed. One Great American heard the call of a nation in trouble, and decided to jump in and wants to help out. My brother is that Great American.
My brother is a Great American, and you can be a Great American. Get involved and put down the mindless diversions of the past, and take heed to what the government is doing, and take heed to the titanic shift of power, and the enormous amount of excessive spending.
This country needs a few more Great Americans to stand up.
