Can you imagine...you are out on your boat enjoying the afternoon with your family and your dog...when suddenly your dog is washed overboard.

What makes it even worse...you can't reach her to get her back on the boat.

You figured she drowned. You mourn her lose and then move on with your life.

And then months later you begin to hear stories about a dog living on a desolate island.

You can watch the video by clicking this link (http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2009/04/07/sotvo.aus.dog.rescued.sevennetwork).

I was out sailing and a storm came up. Our boat capsized and my dog was washed overboard too.

I swam to her and we all sat on the flipped over bottom of the boat for hours before being rescued.

we were lucky.

just a related story.

when I read this today I was warmed for sure!

Wow! That must have a horrifying experience.

I'm glad you and your pup made it back to dry land safe and sound.

Great story!

It reminds of a similar thing that happened off of the coast of Florida in the late 90's.

A dog fell off a boat and went missing. They found the dog a few months later on a monkey behavior study island of some sort.

They said the dog survived by eating the Monkey Chow that the researchers put out for the monkeys.

The thought of Monkey Chow struck me as very funny, so I registered "monkeychow.com". (I no longer own it)

I received a cease and desist letter from Ralston Purina because I registered a name of one of their trademarks...Monkey Chow.

Oops! Hey, it was an honest mistake.

I mean how often do you see monkey chow on a store shelf.;)

I think it is astounding that this pooch was able to come back to her family after all those months.
