Congratulations. and welcome to the board.
Also...trees are a renewable resource, they are grown used and replaced.

"The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them." --Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington, 1787

I read my local paper online anyway, so I have no need for a newspaper subscription.

Ignoring any opinion that differs from your own will only make you ignorant.

The thing is people need to seek sources and venues that are intelligent and worth a look or a read. Yeah,if you go to DU for your information you will be sure the opposing side of the issues are loony. Seek truth. It is not always found in the same location or "side".

And those are the worst kinds of idiots, IMO.

Yup and it actually burned me when I did as much. No "side" has all the answers. No "side" is always right.
I can't stand the Boston Globe here for many reasons but they may fold and that is disturbing to me. I believe in a 2 newspaper town. Its best for all.

I listen to far more right wing media than left wing media.
I am part of the racio audience that has brought Sean the ratings that have made him so successful.
Also I do not need to hear people with whom I agree to reinforce my opinions, I would rather hear how the other side of the aisle saying.

I have never been enlightened by listening to my own thoughts spat back to me.
I HAVE learned much by listening to those whose opinions are radically different than my own.

RIGHT on, I'm with you, my man. A media with an agenda is nothing more than a weapon to enslave.

I read all my newspapers online. Local papers are good for many things. Why don't you read about when your town council meetings will take place, or what the Senate Committees are up to? Or even just when Easter egg hunts will be and what pets are up for adoption.
You won't find that from talk radio.
Remember: all politics is local. You should continue to be involved in your community where you can have more of a direct change. You can't affect national politics much, but please stay tuned to your locale.

My goodness, did they have a sale on soapboxes, or something?
