It's reported on ESPN that the Broncos had traded Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears. I wish he would be traded to the Jets, but I think the price was too high.

The price was way too high. He better be good in Chi-Town.

The fact that the Bears got a 3rd round pick out of it actually makes me like this move for the Bears.

Actually the Bears gave up a third round pick along with Kyle Orton and two first round picks, they did get a fifth round pick though.

They changed it, thats not what it said earlier. And that does seem like a lot, but the havent had a decent QB since McMahon (and even he was just above average), so still a good move I think.

Yeah I think it's a good move to. They gave up a lot, but how often does one have a chance to trade for a pro-bowl QB.

This kind of shocked me. I would not have thought the Bears would go for this trade, as I had figured they were going to run with Orton. I think they paid too much, but realistically they got a very good and proven QB with the ability to make a big difference to there team. I think Orton is on the last year or 2 of his contract and he is not exactly a proven commodity, though he does seem pretty promising
I am not too certain what all positions the bears are in need of fixing and the draft picks could have helped with, but if they can afford to give up all that they did, then this may turn out to be a very good trade for them. But this is something we wont know for a few more months.
Denver, on the other hand, seems to have made out like bandits. They have Orton, who may very well turn out to be a good QB, and he will be playing in a system based offense which as recent rookies have shown can be run successfully from the start. That gives them Simms and Orton as well as the option to pick up a QB prospect relatively early in the draft. I believe there will be at least 1 quality QB available with the 18th pick anyway. That is 3 legitimate chances at finding a QB that can handle there offense.
Plus they picked up an aging but soon to be hall of fame tackle in free agency (name escapes me, from St. Louis I believe)to watch his blind side if he can stay healthy.
Overall, I think Denver clearly benefited from the trade, even though they lost a pro-bowl QB, it was one who did not want to play there anymore, apparently even before the Broncos tried to get Cassels.

AM 850 KOA ran an unofficial poll this morning on whether or not people in Denver were glad to see Cutler traded. It was about 50/50 during the time I was listening.
I get the impression those in the city will be glad when its over!!
Hopefully the Broncos will end up with some good draft picks. They need help with the Defense also.

I wonder if he'll like the Bears lack of defense as much as he liked it in Denver.
Two firsts, a third plus Orton for a guy who's 17-20 as a starter, regardless of how bad his defense was, is a bit much, even if you are getting a fifth-rounder back in the deal.
Of course, my feelings on this little whiny crybaby bitch are well-documented. I'm SO glad Philly gets to play Chicago this year...Samuel is going to eat him ALIVE.

The Bears are going to find out, probably the hard way, just how much of a team player Cutler is/is not.
And the Broncos now have an opportunity for some rebuilding.

There was a lot of talk here that Brady Quinn was going to the Broncos for Cutler. Sure glad it didn't happen.

I heard that too. There were so many options and rumors of options about what was going to happen.
I think Orton is on the last year of his contract. I'm not sure on that. We'll have to see what happens. The Broncos could pick up a third QB in the draft too.
There was expectation in the media that there would be turmoil at the replacement of Shanahan. The fans in Denver were ready for a change then, and they are now too.

I cant remember his exact record, but he has lost 1 game when his defense gives up 22 points or less. Give him a defense, and he has proven to be able to win. His attitude is a concern, I agree with ya on that, but I think the Bears made the right move and the Broncos are goign to be regretting this.

If Mark Sanchez is there at 12, they are taking Sanchez. Orton was just a throw in so they would at least have 2 QBs to compete for the starting job. The picks are easily the biggest part of the deal.

I was really liking Orton.
Two 1st round picks and a third, plus Orton...
Man, I'm just not feelin' it. :frown:

13-1 when the defense gives up 22 or less.
However, he doesn't have Brandon Marshall or Eddie Royal in Chicago. His best o-lineman is now Orlando Pace. He's going to be spending more time on his back than a hooker.
And Chicago's defense is in decline...it's not like we're talking about the '05 team here.

I agree. Orton was a nice young QB for the Bears and had a pretty decent year. He was a good team guy (anyone say that about Cutler?), read what Urlacher and company are saying about the trade, and really, for running a pretty conservative offense, put up decent numbers. The two ere only six points away from each other in QB rating. Of course Cutler has a stronger arm, but is he really two first rounders and a third better than Orton? Not in my opinion. Take a look at their receivers. Davis and Hester vs. Royal, Stokely and Marshall. I think the Broncos just got one hell of a deal.

I agree with all of that, but we are talking about a long term solution, not a 1 or 2 year stop gap measure. Plus, their first pick last year was a LT who was injured in preseason, but should be back this year. Greg Olson is a good, young, pass catching TE, and Forte is a nice back. I dont think they are a SB contender, but they do have the pieces to build around. I would imagine they bring in a couple of veteran receivers who are let go by their teams. And the defense does need help, but I do think I would take their D over Denvers.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the Broncos and the Bears play in the preseason.
That is already being talked about with anticipation, and Cutler just had his first news conference as a Bear.
I heard a rumor that the Bears might sweeten the pot for Cutler to help him get over the trauma of the trade. I hope that doesn't happen. He already has an "its all about me" attitude problem, and if he is going to benefit the organization they certainly don't need to feed that attitude. TEAM is not his strong point.

I guess one thing going for him is that he grew up a Bears fan, and he considers playing for them to be a "dream come true"
That is a definite plus. Much better than the "man I just wanna get away from Denver" attitude...

part of me wants to appreciate the fact that he's from Santa Claus, Indiana. Makes it harder to hate him.
I'll find a way though.
Oh, right...he's a crybaby little bitch who whined until he got his way...that'll do the trick.
