He's done here. I'm sure now the Browns will recoup the bonus he was given just before all of this happened. It's not like he did anything of worth for the team, so he won't be missed.

He was drunk, and his car killed someone. He could spend 15 years behind bars.
If he was from Massachusetts, the only bars he'd be around would be the Senate lounge.
Erah, erah, erah, yeah.

Man that sucks. What a dumb ****.
I mean, I'm no saint. Lord knows that. But I'm smart enough to know that my life would be completely screwed if I got busted for a DUI. Not to mention killing a guy. And I don't have a $35 million contract to play a freakin game. I can't imagine getting to that level in my chosen career, and be willing to risk it all over a few drinks. I just can't even relate to that.
I have very little compassion for him. He made his choice. But I really feel bad for his father. That's gotta be devastating to him.

Especially when you make enough darn money to hire a driver or someone to drive you home. What a waste.

What an idiot. He has more money than he knows what to do with. Just hire a driver to take you where ever you want to go. Now someone's dead and he's headed to prison.

He will probably get the charge knocked down to reckless driving with a suspended six month jail sentence.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4262751 Just saw this on the Browns website. Disgraceful. I can assure you that he is getting absolutely no love from the Browns faithful on this one. If it was anyone else other than a celebrity the book would be thrown at them. I highly doubt Eric Mangini lets him back on the team. There was a very good reason why we drafted two WR's in the early rounds. Buh bye Donte'.

That is pretty freaking unreal. Kills a hard working dude because he was out celebrating his excesses and gets next to nothing for it. Celebrity justice at its best.

Aint it though. He should be banned from the NFL.

Aint it though. He should be banned from the NFL. He deserves to be banned. Isn't this sort of like a NFL code of conduct violation anyway?

Who was the guy from the Carolina Panthers who had his pregnant girlfriend shot and killed as she was driving down the road?
The girlfriend died, but the baby survived and is being raised by her parents.
I wanna say his first name was Ray or something like that.
Also, don't forget Mike Vick. ;)

Not only that, Vick did his time at the SUPERMAX Leavenworth, KS prison.
Donte is getting 30 days in the county lock up? Huh? :wall:
When will we stop treating sports figures as Gods and celebrities? When will we actually value HUMAN life over domesticated animals?
Geez. This is SO disgusting.

Yep. That's the guy I was thinking of.
What did he actually end up getting for killing the girlfriend?
Anyone know?

Rae Carruth's son's name is Chancellor Lee Adams. It's a sad story.
From Wikipedia:
On November 16, 1999, near Carruth's home in Charlotte, North Carolina; Cherica Adams, a woman Carruth had been dating, was shot four times in a drive-by shooting. Surviving the shooting for a time, Adams called 9-1-1 and described Carruth's behavior: he had stopped his vehicle in front of hers as another vehicle drove alongside Adams and its passenger shot her. Carruth then drove from the scene.
Adams was six months pregnant with Carruth's child. Soon after her admission to the hospital, Adams fell into a coma. Doctors saved the child, Chancellor Lee Adams, in an emergency Caesarean section, but Cherica Adams died a week later on December 14. Born prematurely and in distress, Chancellor has cerebral palsy.
Carruth went to the police and posted a $3million bail, with the condition that if either Cherica or Chancellor died, he would turn himself in. However, after Adams died, Carruth became a fugitive. The Panthers released him a few days later, citing a morals clause in his contract. He was eventually captured after being found hiding in the trunk of a car outside a motel in Parkers Crossroads, Tennessee. Also, in the trunk was $3,900 in cash, bottles to hold Carruth's urine, extra clothes, candy bars, and a cell phone.
At trial Rae Carruth was defended by both David Rudolf and Chris Fialko. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and using an instrument to destroy an unborn child. He was sentenced to 18 to 24 years in prison. However, Carruth was found not guilty of first-degree murder and was spared the death penalty. Carruth is now serving a sentence of at least 19 years and 11 months at Nash Correctional Institution near Raleigh, North Carolina. According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, he has a projected release date of October 22, 2018.

He was placed on indefinate suspension by the NFL last night. The Browns will NOT keep him on the roster. He's done. Almost all of the media here wants him cut yesterday, as do the fans. If he plays again it will be in the CFL or even worse the AFL. The Browns front office is keeping quiet on the subject, but it wouldn't surprise me if they already have their minds made up.

If he never plays again the family will not be pleased - no cash. Ironic justice?
Speaking justice, the former MLB hitter, Mel Hall, got sentenced a few days ago for raping a 12 year old! 45 years!

Yeah it was Rae Carruth. I remember when that happened and how the media descended on Charlotte. Getting around downtown was a NIGHTMARE.
