I wonder what happened.

DALLAS — The police officer who detained an NFL player in a hospital parking lot while the player's mother-in-law was dying inside has resigned.
Officer Robert Powell's attorney Bob Gorsky said Powell resigned Wednesday over the March 18 incident in which the officer drew his gun and threatened Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats.
Powell stopped Moats' SUV in suburban Plano after the vehicle rolled through a red light. Moats' wife, Tamishia, and other relatives were also in the car.
Moats' mother-in-law died before he got there, while Powell wrote Moats a ticket and lectured him. Powell later issued an apology, and Moats said he would accept it.
The resignation was first reported by Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT.

Six of one, half dozen of the other.
Two incidents tell me that he seems to have either an issue with having authority (aka the badge) or that he just isn't qualified for the job (who detains a person for an illegal u-turn?)

This guy definately needs to change careers.
Maybe a mall somewhere will be safer because he is there.

I haven't followed this story. Is this the cop's only bad mark?

With any luck, former officer Powell will find a job that doesn't require any common sense.

My understanding is that a few years ago he detained and locked up for 6 hours the wife of another football player for making an illegal u-turn. Bad language was involved in that stop.
