Just wondering if the theme song for Sean is no longer Independence Day by Martina McBride or if it just is no longer on the podcast perhaps for song royalty reasons? I no longer listen to the show live so I don't know if it's still played on there or not.
I did read the writer of the song hated Sean using it but still was hoping he wouldn't drop it as I've come to identify the song with Sean's show.
Thanks,
Shaun

I would assume that's the reason. Limbaugh's podcast does the same thing. However, Mark Levin's podcast which is free, still has Linkin Park's "Somewhere I Belong" on the podcast.

every since the podcast URL changed the song has been eliminated. i'm wondering if he got sued or something for using it? more than likely he just got tired of paying the royalties to such a liberal (the song writer i mean, not sure about martina mcbrides politics.)

Actually it was the old song, Bruce Hornsby's That's just the way it is, that the artist complained about Sean using. That was right at the time he started using Independence Day from time to time. The day he heard that, he played Hornsby's complaint and basically said "fine, I don't have to play your song anymore" and switched.
Independence Day is still played on the radio broadcast, but all songs seem to be cut for rights usage issues. I think it's because Sean and Rush charge a subscription to listen to the shows is where the problem comes from. The podcast didn't have John Rich's Shutting Detroit Down or Rascal Flatts Here Comes Goodbye even though the artists were in studio with Sean on the days they played those songs. They've also cut out all the "bumper music" and you often hear Sean comment on particular songs or artists that we don't get to hear as he would be coming back from what would be commercial beaks.
He's also had Martina on the show and they seemed to get along fine and I think she's also attended freedom concerts so I really doubt there are any issues there.

Not quite accurate. The shows are streamed live for free on WABC radio.

OK, was something I thought I heard Rush mention one time. He can't include songs on the podcast because of rights issues, if I remember what I heard correctly. And, if I heard correctly, it's pay-subscription podcasts that have these song issues. Clark Howard also continues to use his theme song on his podcasts and it's free so I was thinking it was along those lines.
The live streaming isn't the same thing since many stations stream their content live over the net and so the rights issues don't apply the same way.
