My son is 3 1/2 now, but right before he turned 3, we went to the American Village in Central Alabama for their 4th of July festivities. When we got there, we went into the gift shop and bought him a little $2 American flag. We went in to watch Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty of give me death" speech recreation. My son whispered to me, "Mommy, can I wave my flag?"

I felt so proud of him. That's any future history teacher's dream.

It really amazes me how much he knows. He knows who George Washington is, the Statue of Liberty, and many more historical/patriotic symbols. I think one of the reasons is that I want to instill into him the struggles our framers went thru to create this wonderful country. It's truly one of a kind.

Parents- If you'd like a good, educational series that's made for kids, look at getting Liberty's Kids. My son loves it. It's a cartoon based around 3 journalists working for Ben. Franklin who go around and write about all the events from Boston Tea party to past country's establishment. It really is an interesting, historically accurate series. It aired on the History channel every morning until they released the entire series on dvd (40 episodes).

Ok, I'm done rambling...
