Are they out of their minds. They manipulate us with unfair trade practices so that they can flood our market with thier cheap products. They are counterfeiting, pirating...heck, some of their people make .40 cents an hour.
And now they want us to go to a global currency...uh huh...right.

Are they out of their minds.

They are taking a wise position. They know more about capitalism than the Obam-uh administration.

I'm pretty sure this is as much our fault if not more so.

There already is a global currency, the dollar. But that doesn't seem like it's gonna last much longer.

Obama just dismissed the global currency notion out of hand on his press conference. For once I agree with him on something.

That will immediately change when China tells Obam-uh that they will only finance our budget deficits through the Euro, and explain that Obam-uh will have to find a bank to make the exchange.

Yes, they also reverse engineer a lot of our products, but that is not the enraging part. Its kind of a toss up with me as to which of these two gets me the most angry.
We were sold out by our own greedy CEO's and board members across the country.
Corporate America had their eyes focused on the short term bottom line, and their own pockets, instead of what is in the best interest of our country.
I worked for Boeing for 20 years and saw it happen over the years with that company. They partnered with China and Russia and we trained them how to take our jobs from us. Let alone giving them our technology.
But I do feel the one that gets the biggest blame in all of this has been the Government. With all of their regulations and trade agreements that have forced business overseas to become competitive in a global market. Its kind of hard to know which is the egg and which is the chicken.

We just lost a large number of our jobs (contracts within our company) to CHINA. We're sitting on pins and needles, and all the while, we're working harder than we ever have.

Really? I have *NEVER* seen an American, in any store at any moment in my life comparing products in a store to see where the product was made. If Americans actually cared where something was made instead of the price on the sticker, then your complaint about "Corporate America" might register. But as it is now, "main street" America really doesn't give a rat's ass about American jobs, only what set of Christmas tree lights are the cheapest.

Our financial masters had some phone conversations with Geithner. There is only one way to finance Oabam-uh fantasy world budgets, and that is if China gives us permission.

I support this..... sort of. I agree that its time for a Global " Trade " Currency, but not a " Global Currency ". It does not benefit every country to have their goods and services and currency pinned to the value of a single countries currency. It sure as hell doesn't benefit us to have our currency valued according to the strengths and weaknesses of other countries currencies.

I would suggest that rather than relying on tariffs and protectionism to keep Americans working in industries that other countries have a considerable comparative advantage in, these Americans look for new employment opportunities.

The market is actually doing this, and the government continually tries to prevent it via protectionism, while essentially taxing everybody by driving the price of commodities up with protectionism which devalues everyone's dollar.

Obama says No.

Geithner says Maybe ....

While we run around trying to figure out what's going on ...and who is saying what they just keep marching to the drumbeat.

When you say that another country has a considerable comparative advantage over the United States in a given industry, what do you think accounts for most of that comparative advantage?

Hint...Look at post #18 here:
