View Full Version : Small Steps of Resistance

Burn Those Bulbs! This Saturday is another idiotic attempt at a demonstration by the "One World/Green Movement" to make some sort of point through some stupid demonstration of turning lights off Saturday night.

They want you to turn off all your electricity for an hour.

I say, let US make a point, and make sure to TURN UP EVERYTHING and TURN ON everything electric that you have.

It might end up costing you a couple of bucks on your electric bill, but it will be a good way to counteract any of the idiots who turn off the lights in their commune.

Light those lights Oklahoma.

Green is nothing more than a cover for people who want to take away your right to run your own life through big government.

This post was taken from the website www.markshannon.com

We can move this resistance to everyone all over the USA.

I'm not saying I'm going to turn on every light I have just for the heck of it, BUT I'm not going to turn anything off either. You can do whatever you want. It's up to you.

So.....conserving electricity is a bad thing now? Oh gee I thought saving money on your electric bill was a positive. I guess some people can afford to be wasteful.

The bulk of power used in the US is for Industrial & Commercial purposes.

Turning the lights on or off in your house will cause nary a blip on the grid.

The act in itself is meaningless for saving energy but it is all about making a statement. Just like those tea parties. Nothing is going to actually happen but people are making a stand and the fact people are free to protest what they like in the US is what America is all about.

But it can save on your electric bill?

What electric bill? I don't worry about my electricity usage, I live in military housing. Granted, it is habit to turn off lights when I leave the room, but the TV and computer are on 24/7.

What I posted was a repost from Mark Shannon's webpage. I didn't write the thing. I can't see where it is going to help anyone for me to turn off everything for an hour or a day. I am going to use everything that I usually use and am not going to turn off anything because it might be the politically correct thing to do.I'm not going to turn everything on just to use electricity either. I'm personally too lazy to go around and turn everything on and off like that.

How nice for you, I still have to pay for my electricity, and so do lots of other people. The thing is even if YOU don't ahve to pay for it someone does.

Well f course doing it for one hour one day isn't going to help, save on your electric bill or conserve any energy, it needs to be aq habitual thing. That's a "duh" thing.

There are enough foreclosure homes with no electricity on in my neighborhood that nobody would even notice one more house with the lights out.

Kind of difficult to make "awareness" when a house with the lights out looks just like half the other houses in this crummy recession.

I want to keep a light on just so the neighbors know I'm paying my bills!

Another stupid idea.

Think about it. That timeslot on average is probably the one time each week when most folks aren't home.

"See, look how many supported our cause" - nobody was home idiots.

Kind of like that day when everyone who has blue jeans on supports the gay political agenda - hmmm, blue jeans - the most popular clothing item in North America. Now if it were red pants with yellow paisleys on them, I could see that.

for me it's not about saving energy because some doofus actor says so.

It's about them trying to control us and I will be turning on every light and spotlight on in my house for that hour.

Then I'll go back to saving energy my way, like I always do.

so there:twisted:

Oh good grief. Who's trying to 'control' you?
