As the old adage says, "when seconds count, the police are minutes away".

Personally, I cannot fathom having to cower in bedroom with my family while praying that a) the person who just broke into my home only wants my TV set and/or b) that the three police officers in my little village aren't busy with other things and can get to my home before said intruder makes it upstairs.

Frankly I don't understand how anyone can call themselves a responsible husband/wife/parent if they are unable or unwilling to defend their own family if the need arises.
