What are some of the voices that are so familiar, that you can tell where you are just by listening to the announcer's voice?

Tom Carnegie - The track announcer at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "Aaaaaaaaaaand ..... it's a new track record!"

Johnny Most - Former Celtics Announcer. "Havlicek stole the ball !! Havlicek stole the ball !"

Harry Carey - "Holy Cow !, ladies and gentlemen..."

Michael Buffer - Boxing. "Ahhhhhhhhhlet's get ready to rumbaaaaaaaaaallllllllll !"

Any more?

And Buffer's dealings with German television network RTL to be the English-language ring announcer for international championship matches held in Germany televised by RTL (there is a rule requiring English to be the official language for international matches) allowed him last year to announce the final for American Idol, which is owned by RTL (not Fox). We might even see him announce a boxing-themed showcase on The Price Is Right, another RTL show, if Drew writes a boxing-themed Showcase.

Buffer is best in boxing. The rest is cross-promotion or heavy pay events. (Time Warner cross-promotion with HBO and the now-defunct WCW, RTL cross-promotion with their shows).

I admit Carnegie is on that list. How many times have you seen the Fox NASCAR crew ever try to impersonate Carnegie in the booth? ("He did it!") ("It's a new track record!")
