Yet another fine example of a criminal justice system gone absolutely haywire - the guy who shot four Oakland officers is on parole for a violent felony. He apparently has committed numerous offenses. He had a no-bond warrant out for a parole violation for the last violent offense. So- what the hell was he doing out on parole? That was supposed to be for first time and/or non-violent offenders. So why are people with extensive criminal histories being paroled? It's a quick way to adhere to criminals' constitutional right not to be overcrowded in jail. That is more important than your safety. If you think it isn't, if you think that politicians and defense attorneys/judges don't think that way, look at the record of slaughter perpetrated by violent repeat offenders who are paroled - to commit more mayhem. Then people wonder why cops get a bit edgy with recalcitrant individuals.
