They are bad. We haven't capitalized on our chances though.
Mike Richards is a diving bitch. Surprised all the Crosby haters haven't called him on it. It's nothing new.

I am not watching the game so I can't commit on this game specifically, but I will say that in the games that I have watched this year the refs have been horrible and worst than that they have been inconsistant, just like they were last year. Some times just a little contact is made and a penalty gets called and other times, there has been lots of contact and no penalty gets called and this is all done by the same group of refs. All in all I think the worst are hooking, holding and interference. Those seem to be the most inconsistent calls.

They've been worse than NBA refs this year. Probably not as bad as NFL but terrible none the less. The NHL needs to figure it out because it is getting disgusting.

Everytime I hear Crosby I'll just say Richards. They don't have a leg to stand on.

Anytime that any blood is spilled the refs have to call a double minor.

There was no blood. Lupul threw punches as well and didn't get a minor. He should have gotten at least two minutes. Gonch threw, Lupul threw, then Gonch threw. Why did Gonch get 4 and Lupul got nothing?

From the sounds of things from your re-cap and that they both landed punches, it sounds like they both should have gotten five minutes.
Just another example of bad reffing. What bothers me most is not the bad calls, but the incosistency. Just be consistent in what you call. They call one theing then 5 minutes later the same happens and there is no call. Just be consistent in how you can the game. As I said before holding, tripping, and interference seems to be where most of the inconsistency happens.

Why the quotations? It was a dirty two hand slash. I think Pens fans are overreacting about the reffing.

Pittsburgh sports fans think they're unfairly victimized when their team gets called for a penalty. Steelers fans are particularly obnoxious. They also scream bloody murder about perceived infractions of the most minor sort against them by other teams. Tight coverage by opposing defensive backs equals an uncalled pass interference penalty. An opposing defensive lineman or linebacker breathes on Ben after he releases the ball equals an uncalled roughing the passer penalty. The NFL should make the Steelers take Midol before their games. I shudder to hear Goosey on game day. He must be impossible to deal with on game day. And it's worse when the Steelers lose.
Thankfully penalties are few and far between in baseball, but on the other hand, the Pirates draw only a few hundred fans per game. Even the Marlins somehow manage to outdraw the Pirates.

I'm not going to generalize about all Pens fans, because a great many around here are quite level-headed (smarcos, Goose, and Jeemie come to mind)...however, Mt. Soldier does seem to spend 100% more time complaining about officiating than anyone I've ever seen.
I'm not actually going to comment on the content of anyone's posts here, however. I saw maybe 2 minutes of play in between coming home from playing football and taking my wife to the hospital after she dislocated her kneecap. Both times I heard it on the radio, however, Philly was in the midst of killing a penalty.

Well, as you can imagine, the reports of poor officiating in this thread are GREATLY exagerrated.
For instance, not a single call was made on anyone tripping Mike Richards so why he's being called a diver is beyond me. What WASN'T called was a two handed slash to his shin. Hmmmm, wonder why that wasn't mentioned.
Speaking of tripping; Daniel Carcillo gets his foot hauled up to his waist and gets called for diving? Wonder why that wasn't reported either.
And Gonchar's double minor. If anyone will look at the replay with any semblance of objectivity you'll see ZERO punches thrown by Joffrey Lupul. ZERO. True, there was no blood, that's why the double minor insted of a five minute major.

Like I said...I can't really make any kind of objective comment on the officiating of a game I didn't watch.
I CAN, however, point out that you currently have the best sigline on Hannity at the current moment.

Well you can trust me when I tell you, you missed a DAMN good game. There were calls that could have been made that weren't and others that were very ticky tack. But all in all the refs let them play. It was definitely more like a playoff game than regular season. And to say Martin Biron saved our bacon would be an understatement. He stood on his damn head and STOLE the game for us. He's ready for the playoffs big time.
Yeah, Dreamy's got a way with words, doesn't she.

Really friend?
Hal Gill tripping on Mike Richards 02:26 in the second period.
The Carcillo dive was close, but he did embellish it at the end where he threw his skate up to his head while he was on the ice, that could have gone either way.
And yes I just watched it on my DVR and Lupul most certainly did throw a punch in the scrum.

Watched it three times and didn't see it. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree and see each other in the playoffs. Should be a great series.
