Looks like Mackey beat his nearest competitor into Nome by just over 7 hours. In the Iditarod, that is like lapping the field. His antagonist from last year, Jeff King, is way back... out of the top ten.
Three dogs did die ImNewHere... one from who knows what - most common cause is cardio/pulmonary or intestinal problems, but apparently the other two froze to death when the team got stuck in the blizzard that plagued everybody out of Shacktoolik. I can't recall that ever happening before.
