It's time to change the Constitution. I propose this Amendment, the "New America Amendment," to start setting things right. Here's the text; below is why we need it.
-- The New America Amendment --
1. Congress shall have the power to tax, spend and regulate in any way that it believes suits the general welfare.
2. The Bill of Rights (Amendments 1-10) and the 13th Amendment are hereby repealed.
3. Any state may, by state legislation, secede from the United States.
-- Why? --
We're being robbed. Congress has plunged us into debt to hostile countries. It has passed laws that waste billions of dollars per page -- more money than you and everyone you know will earn in your lives. We're told to cut back, while politicians spend our money on themselves. Both parties and all three branches of federal government order us around, take our property, and tell us how to live our lives. Why is this happening?
The problem is that we've let our Constitution be stolen. Taken before our eyes, where thugs and tyrants could never destroy it! Our Founding Fathers saw this problem coming. They understood that we need a government with limited powers. Our Constitution has a list of things government can do, and puts everything else off-limits. Today, we've thrown away those limits. How? Judges twisted phrases like "general welfare" and "interstate commerce" into things the Founders said they never meant. Why? Because we demanded that government run our lives for us! Give us free food, we said, free health care, free schools, and save the planet while you're at it. Every time we asked for "free" things, we ended up less free. Now, our politicians think they own us. They think they can take as much as they want, and all we can do is complain. Are they right?
The New America Amendment calls politicians' bluff. To them the Constitution our soldiers fight for, that they swore to defend, is just an obstacle. You have no rights that Congress thinks it must respect. So let's offer Washington what it wants! Talk to your Congressmen. If they like this Amendment, great! We can leave the Union and set up the Constitution in a new country. (In fact, we don't need anyone's permission to secede.) If they're against it, demand to know why. What do they think their legal limits are? How many trillions of dollars can they take from us? Why do they keep saying we have too much freedom, too much "unfettered" capitalism? Why do they hand our money to people who didn't earn it?
Pass this proposal on. Not everyone has given up on freedom. Rally to the Constitution and work to take back what's been stolen!
