Shouldn't it be "Caregivers and children first"

From a previous post you made I wonder if you have issues with women.

Nope, I am a female. I love being a woman. Besides if "women and children first" still stands today doesn't that mean that women are the weaker sex? Unless it means that it is the woman who is more deserving and more logical choice to stay alive?

Shouldn't it be "Caregivers and children first"
It should be bureaucrats and children first.
Without the bureaucrat's guidance, we don't have sense enough to know what to do.

Tell you what...you show me a man who can go through 9 months of pregnancy..and then naturally birth a child...then we can change the saying to 'caregivers and children first.'
The old adage of Women and children first is to continue on the genetic existance of the human race...I mean really....how silly....
What's with this whole women are weaker kick your on? Who sold you a bill of goods that said men are strong and women are weak? HUH? Who? I wanna know!
Here's a question for ya...which is better, smarter and best as far as a pet..a dog or a cat? If you choose dogs does that mean cats are weak? If you pick cats does that mean dogs are dumb stupid animals not worthy of being a pet? Come on...this whole line of thought that 'women are weak' is see through and silly.....

Umm no one mentioned anything about kids first and ONLY. Just kids first and then women. That's the problem with our society, guys don't seem to know what makes you a man. They seem to think it's going around swinging their fists.

"All societies are based on rules to protect pregnant women and young children. All else is surplusage, excrescence, adornment, luxury, or folly, which can — and must — be dumped in emergency to preserve this prime function. As racial survival is the only universal morality, no other basic is possible." -Robert A. Heinlein ......

I like the attitude of the late Elizabeth, the Queen Mum. When she was urged to send her daughters into safe exile during WWII, she said, "The Princesses will not leave without me, I will not leave without the King, and the King will never leave." Then she learned to shoot and took to the Palace gardens for target practice.

The three stages of a man's life.
When he is born, the question is "How's the mother?"
When he is married the comment is "What a beautiful bride"
And when he dies the question is "How much did he leave her?"
But I love the women anyway.

Boy so many responses.
Dogs and cats;
They are strong according to their own unique ability, just like men and women.
Weak kick:
well this is a general interest section, right?
Who goes first;
should be the person who will be better equip to take care of the child or who can better handle being the survivor. I just don't think that phrase is outdated.
Giving birth:
Personally I don't like that "Well, if a man could give birth...". Just because women can have a baby doesn't mean they are better than a man.

Read a novel (no, obviously not expert information) about manning lifeboats from a sinking ship.
The author stated that the captain needed to make the decision based upon the children, AND who was able to take care of them if they were adrift for a long time.
It does make sense.
I certainly would never want to be in the position of needing to make such a decision.

Who goes first; a look at the survivors of the Titanic, shows that along with "women and children first" ( well rich women and children first!) there were a lot of male crew members survivors. Why? Because they had the strength and skill to "man" the lifeboats. Although, if memory serves me right, the Countess of Rothes manned the tiller in her lifeboat, so there are always exceptions. i think it comes down to the basic human/animal instinct to protect those who are physically weaker. It doesn't really contradict the fact that men and women should be considered equal.
Regarding babies - no one is saying that women consider themselves better than a man. We're about equality remember! We don't think we are better than you. Oh forgot - you're a woman too:rolleyes::))

If it is the last of the human race which would you rather have, one woman and one hundred men or one man and one hundred women.
Which stitution would result in a viable population? That is the test, not which one is stronger or weaker.

yes...it is...and? Was there a question in this comment?

The phrase Woman and Children first in 'dire' situations does have a practical application to the continuation of the species as a whole. Are there men apt and able to care for a child without a woman's influence or help? Sure there are. Are there men who are completely clueless how to raise a child? Unfortunately there are far to many to mention. The same can be said for some woman...but on the whole, Women are the nurtures, Men the hunters. That them there is just how we are built darlin. Take it up with the Almight if ya don't like it.
Giving birth:
Personally I don't like that "Well, if a man could give birth...". Just because women can have a baby doesn't mean they are better than a man.
Who stated anything even close to being a birthing mother makes her 'better' then a man? I'll tell you who....YOU. No one else who has posted here as yet has made such a claim. It's more your hang up then anyone elses. When in a dire situation, you need those who will carry and deliver life in order to propagate the species to live...which places Woman and Children first as a priority...not a placement of weak verses strong.
Now on that day when God chooses to bless men with the wonderful gift of 9 months of pregnancy...then they too can be made a priority in dire situations. Until that time...the saying Woman and Children first will stand on it's own two feet and for obvious black and white reasons.
One final thought...I"ve seen some fairly weak to pathetic men in my life. I've seen overtly strong woman in my time as well. And...so? Weak or strong physically is far from what makes us men and women. Once you understand that, you'll be able to answer your own questions on the subject.

Although, which one is stronger or weaker is coupled in to which situation would result in a viable population. You have to survive the short term first.

Silly old me thought it was for outdated notions of honor in that a man would be willing to lay down his life to save woman and children.
I guess I am from a bye gone age that does not fit our society any longer.

Your not silly...not at all. Honor ...well, it's the first thought we think of when the dire call for 'Women and Children first" comes down isn't it? But behind that honor is the practical need for the races continuance..right?.
I'll take it one step further. I'm disabled...chronic nerve pain...so out of honor and respect for our survival as a species...I would not take a spot..even though I'm a woman. My children...who are far from the title of child in years...would be more important to me tp take my place. Besides, I'm way past my child bearing years...and unfortunately would be a burden in such dire circumstances. ;) But then again, I was raised right....
