Doesn't every man over 60 have prostrate cancer?

I thought I heard that somewhere - that it isn't even worth treating as it is generally so slow growing that he'll die of old age before the cancer gets him.

Not anything I would wish on anyone, even my enemies.

Hope for the best for him.

2) Prostate cancer growth rates vary depending on the person. Some tumors grow so slowly that the man will die of other causes before the prostate cancer makes him any trouble. Most others are bad. Bill Bixby, George Harrison, Frank Zappa are all dead because of prostate cancer. It is not something to take lightly.

My aunt's husband died young from prostate cancer.

It does have a low death rate but no, by no means is it anything to take lightly.

I didn't mean to take any cancer lightly but I did hear that in most cases old age will get you before the cancer will - and Imus tends to get a bit excited about things.

Also, isn't this what the fingerwave is supposed to find? Let the Doc have his (or her) way with you and you'll get some warning - perhaps a drink afterwards at the bar too!

There are also blood screening checks.

 Yes, the "finger wave" is to detect enlargemet of the prostate. That along with the lab work (PSA) help in detecting prostate cancer. The problem is that many times the cancer is detected farther along because the enlargement of the prostate is farther along when it is finally detectable.

Men aren't organized enough to start a ribbon campaign.
