These two pathetic excuses for human beings should be promptly executed, in my opinion. I see no reason to keep these two alive on taxpayer money for years and years, after what they have been arrested for.
"A couple who ran a baby-sitting service out of their home videotaped themselves performing sex acts with children, some as young as 2 months old, police said Friday."

I read about that yesterday morning.
Soon as I saw your thread title I knew what the thread was about.
I don't believe in the death penalty, at times and for some convictions I almost could approve sentencing the perps to medical research facilities as a viable punishment.
There society would at least get some benefit from their pathetic existence.
This is one of those times.

That's one of the most despicable crimes I've ever heard of.
The problem is that Kennedy v Louisiana made it unconstitutional for a state to execute for anything other than murder.
I also believe that no one should be executed as long as Susan Smith and Andrea Yates are still alive. If those two didn't deserve the death penalty, no one does.

They are doomed in prison. Fellow inmates, many of whom have children on the outside, have no tolerance for this kind of human excrement.

I'm sure our tax dollars will fund for each of them to have an armed guard with them at all times and/or a solitary cell. The American justice system rules.

Don't forget the private work-out facility, shower, televisions with attached x-boxen, and mini-fridges. We can't deny them their basic American rights.

My God...what's wrong with these people? How do adults even consider getting their jollies off with infants and toddlers!!! Much less any child of any age!!! This makes my blood boil...and my stomach turn. That they had a child of their own as well....just makes me wanna  That poor little girl....I can't even imagine what her life has been like.
At least there is one small bright spot in this horror story...a 3 year old spoke up...3! Not only did the parents of this 3 year old listen...but followed up on the information. Yeah! Go Parents! Good for them! Thank God for some decent normal people in this gross story.
As for the couple....well, their defense was in the first three paragraphs of the story. Drugs and drug paraphernalia found at the sight....Oh sure...the drugs made me do it.... Right...sure they did.
These two monsters will get the same fair hearing and trail by jury that any one else has the right to legally receive...they will then be sentenced and sent to some facility for years and years. End of story. Sadly, that's the worst under our laws that we can hoist upon those who commit these types of crimes.
Gitmo is about to be cleared of it's inmates...perhaps it's time to send these types of criminals to that facility..? Now that would be a great use of my tax dollars!

Thank you for the pictures...putting a face to this horrific crime always helps to hit home. He looked as I expected...but the woman....not what I expected at all!
Our laws need to reflect how our nations populace feels about crimes of this nature...and new sentencing guidelines need to reflect our views on it as well. Giving these two a pass of any kind is pouring salt into a very large wound imo.
I'm so tired of these monsters being able to use such excuses as 'the drugs made me do it' , or 'I was molested as a young person' or 'Mommy or Daddy didn't love me'.....whatever the lame excuse...it's just that...and excuse for an evil deed that has no excuse or justification imo. To play on societies sympathies as a way to justify why they did this...is just a continued use of their twisted minds to conjure up a defense of some sort....which in my opinion is the un-defensible.
Society needs to wake up and understand there is no cure for this mental malfeasance. There is no magic pill or treatment that would ever make it safe for these types of people to walk among us once more. the kindest thing we can do is remove them from society for their safety and ours.

Exactly. The moment they touch these children they have sentenced these children to a life sentence. You cannot unring the bell of child abuse.
I have heard of elderly persons still talking about the molestations that happened to them as a young child. It never leaves.
The moment you harm a child you lose the right to be in the world of a child. And since children are everywhere, that would mean you can't exist on this planet in a free society.

You're thinking "old school" about today's prisons. Prisons are not the days of yore when inmates had at least some honor and decency. Today's prison inmates hate society. They respect each other regardless of the atrocities and heinous crimes their fellow inmates may have committed.

I wouldn't agree with that. Prisoners have ranks, of sorts. Particular crimes garner a particular amount of respect...or lack thereof

I'm going to hijack a minute and disagree about Susan Smith. Though she should spend the rest of her life in prison for killing her children, I do not think she was in her right mind given the years of rape and sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her step-father (who was a local bigwig and head of his local Christian Coalition chapter). She suffered for years and years at his hands and I don't think she was of sound mind when she drowned her kids.

Nah, they'll be put in isolation like the slug in my sig line. They'll live 40 + years beyond their crimes on the taxpayer dime, like the slug in my sig line. And nary a hair on their heads will be touched--just like the slug in my sig line.
Georgia has protected this waste of skin POS since 1974. He's been convicted and condemned (TWICE) since 1976. The SOB is still alive.
Nary a head on his head has ever be touched by a guard nor a prisoner. Georgia won't allow him to be harmed until his execution---whenever that might happen. One would think after this long all appeals would be exhausted--but not. He's in the middle of another one.
These folks should just as easily be able to extend their lives that long with no harm coming to them--even if they were to be given the DP.
Sucks.
Victims (and their families) have no rights.
The criminals have 'em all.

I can't agree.
Smith was sane. She knew the difference between right and wrong and she knew what she had done was illegal.
She made up a story and lied about it for nine days, trying to cover her tracks.
That negates any claim of criminal insanity. The murder of a person's own helpless children is exactly the kind of crime the death penalty is for.
Imagine if the kid's father had been the killer and he used the excuse that he had been having sex with his step mother, into adulthood.
If anything that would have insured the death penalty.
He would have gotten it anyway, but that would have made it doubly sure.

The death penalty is not more expensive that 40+ years in prison. A single bullet to the head, electrocution, hanging, or gas, is much cheaper for the states, in my opinion.

I would be hard pressed to call something intentional if the person really was not in control of their mental faculties. Though I generally think it's rare for people to "just snap", I beleive it can happen, but I think if a person has a pattern of behavior that shows serious mental illness that could potentially lead to such acts, it makes things less problematic. It doesn't mean the person still isn't a danger to society, but it does necessitate putting them in diferent type of facility than traditional prison.

No, unfortunately they'll be segregated with other sex offenders where they aren't likely to catch a shank in the neck.......but one can always hope.
Most folks don't realize that there isn't just one prison where everyone goes.....but there are, in fact, several types of prisons where folks are sent by classification that they receive based on their crime and the evaluations they receive at diagnostic centers that they are first sent to.

Overall, I agree with your post. I don't know about other states, but here in Georgia, in regards to Jackson etc, inmates are put in general population until such time as they are classified. And depending on the classification, they are either sent off to another facility, or held at the respective prison.

Exactly.
Which is precisely why the ****head in my sig line has managed to last from 1974 to present on Death Row.
He is *never* exposed to ANYONE who would harm a single hair on his head. Ever.
Not a jailer.
Not a warden.
Not a fellow inmate.
Not even the executioner--in spite of being condemned TWICE.
Gotta love a criminal justice system than hands the justice to the criminals, instead of the victims and their families.
