I think it is at least one or both. The word "regeneration" with the prefix "Re" apparently means to redo, reequip reapply, etc.
In other words to bring something back that was previously there.

I think many folks think of "regeneration" as meaning the "applying" of "application" of salvaton, but salvation is not applied, it is available at all times to any that will accept it.

With this said, it appears that "regeneraton" would say or at least imply that a saved person could be resaved. And what woiuld be the procedure to resave a person.

Then there's the word "baptismal" which could, if the above is true, only mean that baptism resaves.

So to me this is somewhat like the dog chasing his tail. And by the way, "A good dog don't open on a covered trail". And that aint no oxymoron. ;-)

Depends on how one defines the term "baptismal regeneration". I do not use that term, I simply refer to it as the baptism of the great commission or NT water baptism or water baptism in the name of the Lord for remission of sins.

Well, I don't know what you are really getting at here.
But I will say that there are people who backslide , go back to their sinful ways again. and sooner or later some, I say some, of them will return to God.

And I say it takes a lot more than baptism to be saved.

Ellis, FYI - I don't think we are supposed to just paste in links without giving any indication where they lead to or what they are about.

Baptismal regeneration is generally associated with Catholicism.
