That is exactly why I don't think Ovechkin is the best player in the league. He would rather take runs than try and get the puck, he would rather sit down waiting to Cherry pick than backcheck or be responsible on defense.

The Crosby haters can say what they want, but he is 10 times the player and person that Ovechkin is.

I don't generally don't watch youtube because I got dial-up and it takes to long to load on my computer. I get what your saying about Ovechkin. He is not responsible when it comes to defensive assignments. He is basically a scoring machine who likes to take runs at players. You all know where I stand on this. I prefer 2 way players. You can thank Stevie Y, for my strong opinions on that. He went from being a scoring machine to one of the games best two way players and I think as a result he became a better player. Now he is on the fast track to be coming an NHL GM, although unfortunately it won't be in Detroit. Rumor is that he'll end up as Ottawa's GM.

Even though I think that Datsyuk is a better player than both Ovechkin and Crosby because he's a full complete player. I wouldn't say that Crosby is 10 times the player Ovechkin is. Crosby is a playmaker, hence always leading in assists. Ovechkin is a goal-scorer with all the goals. Both have talents that differ between the two.

Different systems, different responsibilities. Having said that, if I was coaching and one of my forwards stopped skating like Ovechkin did in that clip rather than make an effort to get back and stop an odd man rush, he would regret that decision for many many practices to come, if I did not outright sit his ass on the spot.

I predict that Olvechkin will regret playing this way before his career is over. Once other players and coaches start getting it in for him and start making concerted efforts at running him and retaliating against him, he is going to take a pounding. Sure, in any given game that will work to Olvechkins advantage, but in the long run he will wind up retiring early with 6 concussions and no rings.
