Are you kidding me? After Obama bashed Bush over and over again for doubling the national debt, Obama wants to bury us in even more debt, starting with a whopping 16% increase in federal spending with his first budget.

Obama's proposed budget would take us from a $3.1 trilliion budget to a $3.6 trillion budget, an increase of half a trillion dollars, a whopping 16% increase in federal spending. And this at a time when we're $11 trillion in debt and running a record deficit.

What happened to the "tough choices" that Obama said he'd make during the campaign? What happened to Obama's repeated promise to "take a knife" to the federal budget to cut waste and duplication? When McCain proposed a spending freeze, Obama kept saying that what was needed was a surgical knife, not a chainsaw. Where's the surgical knife? There's not so much as a butter knife to be seen. Virtualy every single federal agency and program would see its budget increased under Obama's proposed budget.

This is reckless and irresponsible.

[Of Obama's budget] "To fund it all, families earning over $250,000 and a variety of businesses will pay a steep price, but Mr. Obama implored Americans to own up to the mistakes of the past while accepting profound sacrifices."

If I were making over $250k I would be reeeaaaalllly nervous right now. There is no doubt in my mind "pay a steep price" will mean exactly that.

I've noticed that a lot of people on here don't really believe in the "Trickle Down Theory" as it relates to wealth. However, once the higher taxes are implemented as regards to the "rich" 5%, just watch the "Trickle Down Theory" as lower income families will feel the pain in higher prices for almost everything.

well, he did say this week that he was going to cut spending in the defense department. He started demonizing them. Nice...
I'm all for cutting wasteful spending, but why not start with other things that aren't nearly as important or necessary, like superfluous trips in jets, expensive dinners/parties, stupid "green" projects and buerocratic jobs that aren't necessary?

I keep hearing Obama say "I inherited this problem." His idea of change is to pour gas on the fire. Inheriting the mistakes made from the past administration doesn't give you a blank slate to multiply that same problem by an immeasureable amount. Guess money grows on trees. If I had any money, I'd invest in the company that makes the printing machines that print money. There is probably some designated for them in one of the many spending bills. The bills will just keep on coming.

It seems vogue to criticize the rich and things like private planes and expensive trips, etc. But did any one ever stop to consider just how many people's lives depend on these things? Take private planes for instance. There are hundreds of thousands of people whose jobs rely on private planes. People who run private terminals, fuel the planes, clean them, etc. When the President comes out and demonizes these things, then more people will lose their jobs when people with money cut back in order to not look "guilty". All of these "unintended consequences" are causing this economy to get worse.

Nice to see you guys, after seven years, are finally concerned about the deficit and the size of government.

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

They didn't have time to worry about the economy. They were too busy trying to make women have babies they didn't want, keep people from smoking whatever and controlling what people do in their bedrooms.

Now that you got that off your chest, let's move forward, shall we?

Have you also shared your concern to your Rep/Sen about a bloated government and wasteful spending?

Many times! In fact on the first stimulus bill under Bush, my conservative Republican Rep recieved calls 8 to 1 against the bill BUT HE VOTED FOR IT ANYWAY.

Guess who did NOT get my vote in November... but he won anyway.

I was also against TARP1 and voiced my opinion to my elected officials. They also got an overwelming amount of calls against it.

Too bad they listen to Bush, Pelosi, and Reid instead.

Your right, revenge seems to trump common sense sometimes.

Pretty sad.

I wonder if "move on dot org" is going to be run on a conservative platform now?

Neither party is seen as the party of fiscal restraint anymore.

It'll take the Republicans actually doing something along those lines to get that rep back, instead of saying one thing and doing another, and it may take ten years.
