How much of my income is enough? I currently pay about 56% of my income in taxes and fees (more taxes), to state, fed, and local government. How much is enough? Why can no one answer that question?
It seems to me, that I earned the money and the government steals it! If I would steal 56% of the money out of a bank vault, and say that I'm using it to help other "failing banks" I'd go to jail! The government, steals 56% of my income to bail out losers who bought too much house! B.S.!

...is a man who has over half his income forcibly seized truly a free man?

If you continue to cling to your possessions you will never be a free man.
Matthew 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

I don't think so! I sure don't feel free anymore! I don't have a problem paying taxes, if they are reasonable. I feel we are at a point where it has become unreasonable! If 10% is enough for GOD, why is it not enough for government?

Oh yeah? Well get this, my mother is past retirement age and collected only social security. She's certainly not 'well off', just getting by. She's one who likes to stay busey. Over a year ago, she took a job in retail for about 30 or 35 hours per week. Because of that, about 85% of her social security is now taxable, and she owes (after exemptions) over $2500 to the IRS.

God does not want 10%, he wants it all.

I don't think God would take all of the fruits of my labor. Do you? He would want me to be able to take care of my family! Or are you saying God is greedy? If you are, I'd like to see what kind of Bible your reading.

That's one more example of my problem, government just keeps taking and taking! When are we as Americans, going to stand up against it? We stood up against a 2% tax on tea! Government has gotten the idea, it has a RIGHT to take our money. The government has NO RIGHTS according to our constitution! It is the people who have the rights!

I am not using the evangelical bible (the one that ends with Leviticus and picks up again at Revelation). I am using the Gospel. Consider Mark 10:28: "Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields, for my sake will fail to receive a hundred times as much in the present age ... and in the time to come, eternal life".
God is greedy, he wants your soul.

Something to think about.
When I started working in 1970 the married guys were sorry for me because being single I had almost 10% (Fed/State taxes, union dues etc) taken out of my check.

If you mother has a job she is better off than 10% of Americans. She should pay.

Boy, a little harsh? First, I don't think the number is 10%, who are unemployed. Second, How much should we (those who work) pay? What percentage of our income?

Ben, How many imaginary dollars from your imaginary trucking company do you pay 56% on?
