Anyone got any ideas on what this is supposed to be? Anybody live in Arizona near this so they can either put this guys mind to rest or cause his head to explode?

Feb 23, 2009. Over the past five months, this "compound" has taken shape out in the central Arizona desert, in the middle of nowhere near Blackwater and Sacaton Arizona, along the dry Gila River. It looks to be about a quarter mile long by an eighth mile wide. It has razor wire all around it, power lines run to it and about half of it is cleared of vegetation. It is in an inhospitable and inescapable area of the Sonoran desert.

The closest small towns would be about 10 miles away in any direction. You'd be lucky to walk one mile in the summer heat there. April to November temps are commonly well above 100F. Summertime temps are routinely 120 F or even higher. Could this be for Guantanamo Bay detainees? Coming civil unrest? Illegal aliens? Mortgage defaulters? ...I will keep you posted.

It's Obama's first re-education camp.

He's going for irony by putting it in the state of his presidential opponent.

I tried, but the description of where it is is so vague it's hard to tell exactly where to try to pin it down. Supposedly somewhere between Sacaton and Blackwater. Well, looking at Google Earth, that's quite a bit of territory. I'm also not exactly sure where the Gila River ran so I don't have a very good reference point.

That, and trying to Google earth anything on dial-up is practically a waste of time.

I don't know. I've never built a compound before. :))

Also, if it was only built in the last five months, it may not show up on Google Earth. If you look at my place, it's a summer photo, not a current photo. If it was, It would be covered in white. We got 5 more inches today and it's still snowing.

You haven't? RT,everyone is doing it these days. Get with the program. Home Depot has a whole dept just for DYI compound building.

Maybe we should ask the Massachusetts Kennedys? They have a compound :))

That is a construction material and equipment staging area for the new subdivision that is being built east of Sacaton on Blackwater Road.

In the bottom picture at your Coast to Coast link you can see a Trac-hoe in the far background.

This compund area is on the east side and south side of the gila river basin from where the subdivision is in its initial stages when viewed on Google Earth.

Well then, hop on over to Arizona and start wandering the desert. We need to know what this is. :D

If it really is where he is indicating, it really is in the middle of nowhere. I'm more than willing to believe it's something mundane, but what could you possibly build there that would be a business venture? and what could possibly justify all the fencing and razor wire? Wish we had better pictures. :)
