Someone with no sense will pick him up for their team. If it had happened at this time last year, I would have guessed that the Browns would have been the team. He would have been a great supplement to Kellen (I block for no one) Winslow and Braylon (Butterfingers) Edwards.

Good move on their part, actually. They'll be fine without him.

I honestly can't think of any team that would actually take an aging wide receiver on the back end decline of his career that has shown himself to be a cancer in every locker room he has ever been a part of. I don't know that even the raiders will pay him what he will be asking for his diminishing talents (Though he is admittedly still a very good football player, when he wants to be)

I pooh-pooh'd it for a couple of years while folks at the Cowboys message board kept saying Owens is nothing but a cancer. But he is. Like a cancer, the symptoms aren't usually readily apparent at the onset, it takes some time to debilitate the patient.
Last season the cancer was very evident even to those who tried to deny its existence. Once again, Bill Parcells is proven correct. Owens' negative impact on the locker room weighed heavier than his three straight 1,000-yard, double-digit touchdown seasons.
Kudos to Jerry, for cutting this malignant tumor out of the body.
Now if he'll start carving out the other cancer, safety Roy Williams, the patient can resume an active lifestyle again.

Good move by the Cowboys. Romo reminds me a lot of Eli. Both are young QBs with a lot of ability, but neither seems to be a real vocal leader. Eli benefited when Tiki and Shockey and their personalities were out of the picture, and I think Romo will benefit with TO gone. He still has a # 1 type receiver and big time TE. Now he wont have the mouthy receiver over his shoulder worried about how many catches he will get each game.

My mistake last year was not realizing that particular problem and how the skills had tumbled off the cliff with age. It happens.
This is all very encouraging stuff, but the truth does remain that Dallas really isn't a very good team.

Yes they will...
Most likely better...
If you look around the league CHEMISTRY is much more important than flask and dash...
TO is a CANCER...Removing him will help heal the rest of the body..

They need a new coach. Wade Phillips has proven to be a nice DC, but has never really successful as a HC. He is much to soft. Parcells would have worked if he was there longer I believe, and I believe that is the type of coach they need. A no nonsense guy. Marty Schottenheimer would be perfect for them IMO.

Probably will next season, as Jerry is going to stay with Wade this season for sure, and none of these coaches want to be in the league this coming season. Of course, if Dallas goes all the way that will buy Wade another couple years.

Here's the official team statement:
The Dallas Cowboys announced the release of veteran safety Roy Williams today. Williams, who was the team’s firs- round draft choice out of Oklahoma in 2002, earned five Pro Bowl selections in his seven seasons with the Cowboys. From 2002 to 2007, he started 92 consecutive games for Dallas. He currently has 611 career tackles, 10 forced fumbles and 19 interceptions. Williams missed most of the 2008 season with a broken arm.
“Roy has been a wonderful representative of this organization since coming to Dallas,” said Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones. “Unfortunately we have reached a crossroad with his time here in Dallas and the difficult decision was made to allow him to explore other opportunities in the NFL.”
The Cowboys also announced the release of wide receiver Terrell Owens today. A 13-year NFL veteran, Owens spent the last three seasons with the Cowboys where he caught 235 passes for 3,587 yards and 38 touchdowns. In 2008, he had 69 receptions for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns. A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Owens is currently ranked sixth in NFL history in receptions with 951. His 139 career touchdown receptions are second in NFL history to Jerry Rice’s 197.
“Terrell Owens was a very productive player who performed at a very high level for all three of his years here in Dallas,” said Jones. “But we have made a decision to move forward without him.
“In the aftermath of the season, we talked about change. Some of what is changing involves the process and some of it involves people. This is a decision that was made based upon consideration for an entire team. We will move on now with a new team – a new attitude – and into a new stadium. The evaluation process and the prospect for change will continue at every level of the organization.”

I wonder if the Giants would want him, considering Burress may not be back with all of his recent troubles. One problem child for another...

I would like to see what coach in the NFL that you folks here, if any, could handle Terrell Owens and actually put him in his place as a player. I can only think of 1 , and wouldn't that be a hell of a set of bookends with T.O. on one side and Randy Moss on the other. Brady might set a record that would never be broken.

I would suggest that there is not a coach that could keep TO in check if he felt he was not getting enough passes or if the team was doing poorly. If the team is doing well, TO is the center of attention and he is getting thrown too then pretty much any coach would be able to handle him.
TO is 0 for 3 when it comes to good relations with whatever team he is currently playing for. Any coach that picks him up and expects things to be different this time is simply deluding himself.
And i don't think you can compare him to Burress. Sure, both are idiots off the field, but TO is just a bad team mate where as Burress seems to be genuinely liked and respected by his team mates.

Maybe the league has finally caught on to the cancer that is TO, maybe he's just old enough that nobody wants to sign up for his dropped ball, whiny bitch act.

What gets me was the whole "Parcells is too tough" crowd. Many were always saying Dallas needed more of a players coach.
Now we have Phillips and the cry is "we need a stricter coach."
It doesn't work both ways.
As for T.O., good riddance to bad rubbish I say. No one operates efficiently when there's that type person around, in any environment. Constantly having to walk on egg shells make any normal human uncomfortable.
I don't wish T.O. ill but his suck up press release leads me to believe he and his agent know finding a team to take him isn't going to be easy. No ones fault but his own, buh bye.

Well... your feelings about T.O. are obvious. What do you do now that he is a member of your team?

When they make the playoffs, let us know. ;)
LOL!!!!! No, but seriously, I think T.O just killed his career. I could be wrong, but Buffalo has some problems right now, not alot, but a few. However, this could bring more free agents and trades to the Bills because T.O brings the spot light to any team that he is on. On the other side, Lee Evans is pretty good. They got Marshawn Lynch and a more than average defense that has a real good secondary. It's only a 1 year contract, so who knows what will happen. The bad thing is, they gotta play the Patriots twice a year. I question the talent of both of their QB's. But T.O might change that. He ties the Safeties up on top, and draws alot of double coverage that would help any NFL team look much better. ~BH

I don't think T.O. and the Bills are a good fit. I think it's an attempt for the Bills to stay in Buffalo.
After T.O. spatted with Jeff Garica, Donovan McNabb, and Tony Romo, I would have to imagine how Trent Edwards would feel having him as a teammate.
I wished that T.O. would sign with the Jets.

I think he is fine in Buffalo, since it is only a 1 year contract. TO is obviously on the downside of his career, but certainly still a good player to have, as long as their is no long term committment.

All I can say civilly is wow.
Logical response: Buffalo just gained tens of millions in advertising and publicity for 6.5 million. The move was made for two big reasons. 1. In a down economy, with a struggling team, this will put butts in the seats and sell merchandise. 2. The Bills needed to show their fans that they are trying to improve after resigning Dick Jauron prematurely last year, alienating much of the fan base.
TO came to Buffalo. You have to ask why? What the heck will it do for him? Maybe this is a rehab of his image deal. If it were any more than a one year deal, it would be doubtful. One year, small market to me means he's setting up for one more big payday next year, and he and his agent realize they have to do something now if he wants to get that.

In the end, I have to realize, the Bills have been irrelevant for ten years, they have a bunch of guys who have been rewarded for mediocrity, what the hell can TO do to us that would make things worse. This isn't Philly or Dallas, where he's expected to be the key to a championship. Our highest paid D player thinks sacks are just a stat and don't matter. Our young running back likes to break the law in his down time. Our QB got a concussion and turned into JP Losman's clone. At least the season will be interesting.
