How do you pay in advance, a week in advance no less, for food at McDonalds? I realy truly want to know as I have a powerful craving for a 1/2 pounder but won't have money till this weekend.

Do they have a layaway service center that I can call?

Hehehe, O&A were riffing on this yesterday. This lady was quite ignorant but she's not the worst offender of abusing the 911 system.

How about this rich, white, suburban soccer mom who called 911 because Burger King wouldn't make her a Western Whopper? (The 911 operator was AMAZING in this call, BTW).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ12Ry-hD6I

This actually angers me more than the McDonald's lady. She paid for her nuggets and they didn't have them, then refused her a refund. If she wanted to call the police she should have found the non-emergency number and called the local station or precinct, or accepted the loss and engaged in some practical revenge like one O&A listener told of when he called in.

That guy said that he had been out one night and ordered a bunch of cheeseburgers for him and his buddies at the drive-thru, and being polite to the cars behind him, he pulled forward and checked the order. When he noticed he was missing a few burgers he went in and told the manager, but the manager wouldn't give him the burgers, because he had no idea if the guy was trying to scam him. The customer said, OK, and left, but he told O&A that once a month for about a year, he would go into that McDonald's and defecate in the bathroom sink. Disgusting, for sure, but hey, sometimes a cold revenge is better than a blistering anger.

Let's not go there. Look, the lady is clearly an ignorant stump of a person, but as I said, she's not the worst offender. The soccer mom with her kids in the minivan who called 911 over not getting her Western Whopper was probably a Prop 8 supporter and McCain voter.

It's not just the urban black people of questionable education who voted for Obama. I voted for him too (minus the expectations that he would cure cancer, walk on water, and raise the dead) because I truly believe that he was and is the lesser of two evils (not versus McCain, but versus Palin).

The market has been nosediving since last year, long before Obama took office. I don't think he's helping much, with his bailouts and stimulus package only delaying the eventual necessity to just eat the loss and rebuild, but he's not doing any more harm than Bush did. They both have similar views on stimulating the economy and flooding the market with freshly printed dollars.

I also have to blame the media for the market's constant tanking too, they fan the flames of panic every single day with their doomsday reporting. Every time a company has a bad report or there are layoffs, they act like it's the end of the world. Enough already, shut up and quit scaring the crap out of everyone. I'm willing to bet that half of this recession at least is due to media-driven panic.

The McDonald's near me has to be the "worst of the worst" in America. One morning I was awake at 430 am. I just couldn't sleep at all. I then decided to go to the worst Micky D's and get breakfast. Guess what? I ordered a breakfast meal with coffee.

They informed me that they were out of coffee, at 5:00 in the morning. I felt like calling the police or someone, but being a cop, I was already there LOL! For a restaurant to be out of coffee at breakfast time is pathetic. Well, anyway! LOL!

I have never sided with all the freaks that call 911 for frivolous reasons. However, I side with the customer in this incident. According to all reports and accounts, they did not have what she ordered and would not refund her money. (Offered her a substitute she did not want.)

What else was she to do? Calling the police was her only recourse. What's a customer to do? What if it happened to you? What could you do to get your money back? Hire a lawyer and sue? Take the issue to small claims court? You could, but wouldn't. And McDonalds knows that.

The police should have responded to the lady's call; arrested the manager and all top-level McDonald's executives and put them in jail for stealing money from a customer.

Give all the guilty pendejos a fair trial and hang them.

At first it was amusing but do we really have to do this for another 4 years on this forum.

i understand being upset about not getting a refund. nuggets are about the best thing mcdonalds has so i can understand her not wanting anything else. i know they are required a refund when they dont have an item and you dont want anything else cause in my younger years i was a mcdonalds hand. but seriously 911 was too much. 911 is for emergencies. this is not an emergency. it in no way was life threatening. there are other ways to handle this situation.

911 is for all residents to use for summoning the police. You did know that 911 is paid for by residents as part of their phone bill, right? It isn't free and it's to use.

When I found out that they wouldn't give her her money back, I thought to myself that I probably would have done the same thing, so I do think in this case a call to the police, though not through 911, would have been justified. I myself would probably first call McDonalds corporate, and if that didn't produce results, I would have then called the police.

I think you're mistaken about 911 calls. 911 is so citizens can get a police out to a situation. Some departments use 911 only, so you can't say don't use it. In my city that's what 911 is for, whether it be an emergency or a report call. BTW, situations like that one all the time turn into fights and worse. If they refused to give her money back, that's a disturbance call.

ManOfFaith
March 7th, 2009, 12:47 am
Calling 911 in such an instance is insane, however, what should she have done instead?

I was thinking about this. If I paid for something that I wanted, and then it turned out that thing was not available, should I expect to get my money back? Understandably, it's small change, however, should I not expect to get my money back?

I thought about this some more, and yes, you're probably right. I simply can't rationalize why McDonalds couldn't have given her the money back.

I myself would probably first call McDonald's corporate, and if that didn't produce results, I would have then called the police.

Again, 911 is paid for by citizens, it's supposed to be used by citizens and is used every single day to get a police out to make a minor report. I remember years ago when 911 first came into my department, people simply didn't understand it's proper use. They were afraid of it.

People standing in line at a restaurant don't have access to the police, regular phone number to report a disturbance, do you carry the regular police number around with you? Should she have asked the employee to get the regular number for her? Plus, if she wasn't allowed to get her money back, there probably was a disturbance or harsh words.

Actually, if you dial 911 and only have a very small, unimportant report to make, the Dispatcher will automatically transfer the unimportant call to a regular number. BTW, consider this too, there are more than just one 911 line in the PD.

When 911 first came to my PD, we had the same questions and misunderstandings. That was 18 years ago, that's why I am trying t explain about it.

There are some towns that are seriously wanting or are now taxing 911 calls. This is rediculous. 911 calls are already provided and paid for when people pay their real estate taxes along with sewer taxes and car taxes. Of course there are those who use cell phones in an emergency. This is becoming like "shared sacrifice" doubled up.

As far as "shared sacrifice" , it's becoming Forced sacifice. This is akin to slavery which was banned along time ago and is illegal.
Suppose one were to call 911 and you get some operator asking if you paid your tax on the 911 call. What would you do.?
There should be an alternative that is not taxed but be a supplemental to law abiding citizens who pay there taxes honestly.
