I read in the latest VFW that the museum opens March 20th, but found the following info stating June on the web site link.
On March 19, 2009, the parade field will hold its first official Infantry school graduation. Descendants and modern day heroes will be on hand to spread sacred from battlefields around the world. Soldier Center, which includes an IMAX theater, restaurant, gift store and two small galleries, will open its doors. The museum’s exhibit spaces will not open until June.
Too bad, I was fired up to go with my Boy Scout son. He LOVES military museums. Guess I'll have to wait. :wall:

IMAX theater?
Imagine seeing "I am the Infantry" or a "Forge the Thunderbolt" film in IMAX.

It's been years since I was last there. I recall a buddy, a Vietnam vet, who nearly took out a wax figure of a Viet Cong as he rounded a corner.
You'd think they would have warning signs or something.......
I'll have to get down there some time to see the new one.

Check out the Ranger memorial near Infantry hall, near the Airborne area. There are alot of other monuments to the Airborne near there too along with the C-47 and C-119.

That's OK the Army needs legs too, I guess. :))
BTW, MrsArmyMAJretired is Airborne qualified because I could never marry a LEG!

I really want to see this museum. I loved the Marine Corps Museum at Parris Island and of course I go to the Field Artillery museum at least once a week along with the Cav museum and Army Air Corps museum. All are at Ft. Sill, home of just about everything at one point in time.
But, they don't have an IMAX theater. Going to have to mosey on down to Georgia!

What are you talking about? Legs are the best part!
Mrs. Adlerian thinks she's Airborne. Lord knows what she saw in this busted up grunt. ;)

Right, the Airborne fixes the enemy, encircles them from within, weras them out and the clean up crew arrives.
You do know what hold up a chicken's ass right?
Legs and it takes two of em!
Parachuting is the second biggest thrill of your life, the biggest with your pants on!
Just kidding, After my jumps at Airborne School and then Ranger School, I was a Mech Puke, M113s followed by Bradleys!

My husband just applied for airborne school, so hopefully we go to Bragg when he gets home from Iraq.
Did you ever get a chance to jump with the German Airborne? My father in law did it twice and ended up breaking his leg one time and dislocating his knee the second time. He said it was probably from diving out head first when there was 40MPH winds on the ground. Said he would do it again in a second. Crazy Airborne people. :D
