I just got a flyer in the mail called "Unlocking Revelation". It looks very Adventist to me. Has anyone heard about this before? It said that the speaker is Monte Landis. It has a website but not much info there. www.bibleprophecyseminars.com I would kinda like to get some more information on this, like what denomination they are affiliated with and stuff like that. The flyer was sent by a placed called "Arise"which is out of Tecumseh, Michigan.

I am not sure if I am going to go or not. I'd like to know a little bit more about them before I go. I was born and raised in the SDA Church and the flyer looked very Adventist so it caught my interest.
One thing I really liked about the flyer is that it said this
I make you these two sincere promises
1. The Bible alone will be your textbook
2. Jesus Christ will be uplifted-our hope in these last days.

redbeard, my only suggestion is to read The Revelation of St. John The Divine and come to your own conclusions,
for many years I avoided reading Revelations, for their are some fearful consequences for sin in the Age of Forgiveness

I just checked my Bible - Revelation wasn't locked.
there is a scripture in daniel that refers to a "little book" that is to be sealed until the time of the end, and a passage in Revelation that refers to a little book being opened. Adventists believe that the little book being referred to in Daniel was actually the book of Revelation, Obviously, the "sealing" of the little book was not literal, but spiritual, meaning the interpretation of the book was "cloudy", for lack of a better word. It wasn't understood.
In the late 18th century, there was a great revival of interest in Revelation and it seems that many began to study it in earnest the prophecies it contained. Many of the prophecies in Revelation were the same prophecies given in Daniel, only with much more detail given. This discovery, that the prophecies were the same as those in Daniel, was made at this time, referred to as the time of the end, which Adventists believe began in 1798...

The beginning of the end times. That's where humans get themselves into a pickle. No one knows the day or the time, not even the Son, only the Father.
Pastor John Hagee has one of the best sermon series on end times prophecies that I've ever heard. (www.jhm.org (http://www.jhm.org)) And a lot of it comes from the Old Testament prophets, in conjunction with the book of Revelation.
My personal hope is that I will not be around to see it. I hope in the rapture of the Church before the arrival of the antichrist. Imagine the reaction of the world when millions of Christians dissappear in the blink of an eye.

I do. I imagine the reaction will be similar to Mardis Gras.

It's more than just that. On the cover it shows three angels flying out of the Bible. It also shows the four beasts and the four horseman as well as a seal that says "The Mark 666". If I didn't know better I would say that this would be a " Revelation Seminar".

While it is possible that it will happen like that, I don't believe that it will. My understanding of the scriptures are that it won't be a secret rapture. Everyone will know what is happening.

Yeah it will be a party time. My understanding of scriptures is different than many Christians. I don't believe that there will be a secret rapture. Everyone will know that is happening. The dead will rise first and then we will be caught up with them to meet the Lord in the clouds.

You know what Red, I say go for it. But go for it only under the condition that you are interested in hearing "their take on Revelation".
I have done many studies on the Book of Revelation for this sole purpose...hearing the different interpretations.
I always go into these studies understanding that what happens in Revelation has not happened yet...so any interpretation is just that...interpretation.

Not sure what to do, as of this moment I am leaning towards going. Don't have to make a decision until Friday though. ;)

You don't have to go to a seminar on Revelation anyways. There are many resources available to you.
1. Pray for God's wisdom.
2. Read the Bible
2. Historical books of that era when Revelation was written and the happenings and culture of that time.
Pray first and read the scriptures before you go to a seminar, class, or sermon. Then pray again and read scriptures again. Understanding the historical context and language will help you understand the imagery involved. I have been listening to a series online at www.borntowin.net there are 28 28 minute programs on the Book of Revelation. Ronald Dart uses the old testament and the Olivet prophecy in an intriqing way to amplify some of the imagery contained in Revelation. Like an ealier post said, it is just an interpretation, the key point of Revelation that we need to be concerned with is:
1. Are we ready to meet the LORD?
2. Are we ready to stand firm in our faith and undergo any persecution?
3. Will we be doing what the LORD has required of us when he comes like a thief in the night?
4. There will be an end to this age, and in the next age, only the servants of God will collect their inheritance, all others will perish in the everlasting lake of fire.
The letters to the seven churches are letters not only to real churches of that time, but by the number seven, indicates completion, or the whole church. On that aspect there is teaching and instruction from those letters that we can apply to our lives. Each or more of the bad and good points can be applied to any professed christian of the church as a whole. The key is am I on the praised side or the rebuked side of the church? Am I a true believer who has died to self, taken up the cross, and followed the LORD...or am I a believer that has never taken that first step and died to self, and therefore cannot take up the cross, and therefor cannot follow the LORD, and therefore will be placed on the LORD's left during the separation of believers and given my inheritance with the hypocrites.

Arise is also a United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, Michigan. The address was registered to The Hamblin Company in Tecumseh, Michigan which has Hamblin Outreach Publishing Enterprises which produces evangelical brochures.
Of course all one has to do is click on the links for the states to find out that the seminars are being held in Adventist churches.

Reading Revelation goes like this.
'' Oh, that's what the sea of Solomon stands for in heaven.''
'' Oh look, it's the feast of trumpets''
'' Oh look, it's Simchat Torah''
'' Oh look, it's The Pentacost''
'' Oh, So that's what the outer court stands for in heaven, That's what the Holy place looks like in heaven''
'' That's what that Jewish ritural stands for''
'' Oh so that's why Jews do that weird thing that they do''
'' Oh Look, It's the two sons of Oil talked about in Jewish culture''
The entire book is a view from the temple and goings on of heaven looking down to a view of the temple and the goings on of the temple on Earth.
A walk through Revelation spans 7000 years walking through the Temple pointing out riturals and and Jewish culture and religion showing you many times what the exact date is.
Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh trumpet sounded: And there were loud voices heard in heaven, saying, '' The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.
A religous Jew steeped in Jewish ritural would know exactly what this date was, and what had just taken place.
But where does this Jewish idiom come from?
The Talmud.
