In church, all in one accord, singing, worshiping, praying, being thankful, God there with us, the Holy Spirit moving, changing lives, saving, baptising. The children growing up in the Lord.

If I don't smile all week, I do smile on Sunday. Amen.

One finds God where one looks for Him. If you are only finding Him in church, I'm sorry to hear that.

Koushi, (she says reproachfully). That's not what he said or implied. You ought not be inferring it.

That being said, I am guessing there were times you felt close to God during your winter excursion over the weekend.

Sounds great. I only go to church when my girlfriends family (Catholic) have the big masses to go to and my girlfriend doesn't want to have to go alone. They all act like it's more of a chore than an enjoyable event. They mostly go to show face and be seen by their neighbors and discuss how people are dressed etc. Always good to see people actually enjoying going to church. I know this sounds weird coming from an atheist, but people going to church because they enjoy it or they feel closer to God there or whatever makes sense to me and I respect it, but the types who don't enjoy it and act miserable that they have to go and then talk about people's clothes once they get there, I don't understand. It would make much more sense that they just say home.

Have a good day.

There is something about SINGING IN WORSHIP that makes the hairs in the back of my neck tingle better than any chemical buzz.
It can be a hand clapping folksy Pentecostal Chorus, such as "Give that Old Time Religion", or an old Wesley hymn, or a modern Praise Song, but when I sing it from the heart along with others, TIME/SPACE stands still, and I feel the Presence of JESUS Spirit, to the point I feel I'm in Heaven.

It is in that worship moment when my troubles vanish, and when I gain insight of the problems that surround me; much the same as when 3,000 years ago when Asaph wrote his Psalm 73 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2073&version=31).
In fact, singing Hyms is key in being filled with the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 5:15-20 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%205:15-20;&version=77;).

Going to a Church Service without this is like going to a diner and eating bread a month old and tough as nails.

Thank you for the nice comment. I'm going to go out of my way to be nice to atheists now. That's weird how an atheist can teach a Christian about love. But as a Christian I can understand it when I realize that we are all created in His image, not just Christians.

Thanks for the Bible verse. It meant a lot to me because I do make music to the Lord in my heart. I am constantly singing to the Lord all day long. I suspect most are glad I'm not singing out loud.

It's been a little while since I've experienced Sunday morning from the pews, but I must say that being part of the leadership on Sunday morning, I get to see what people are really feeling (or at least the body language they present). Sure, there are some days that you can tell people are just dragging themselves to church, but how much more excited they seem after the service! I'd like to believe it's because God touched them during that time...but maybe some people are just glad it's time to go home. Either way, I, too, find many reasons to smile on Sunday.

May the warmth of God's love surround each of you during this holy season of Lent.

I understand pastorken where your coming from. I am the head of the AV department in my church and even though I don't have to do it every Sunday I am in the booth helping most Sundays. We only get to see the backs of the congregation and our worship is constantly getting interrupted by the work we do but even there we get those moments of God's Grace and feel the Holy Spirit moving. We see people come in down and depressed from the events of the week and with in a few minutes of praise and worship they are lifting there hand and singing. By the end of the service you can tell God has had his hand on them.

When you see someone that you know is having problems at home or work or has health issues go to the alter and 3 or 4 of there friends or family members step out from all over the church to stand and pray with and for them you can feel Gods Love all the way to the back of the church.
