View Full Version : ATTENTION! New users cannot access account changes

tislaw
February 21st, 2009, 4:48 am
without going through the required 24-hour vetting process. That means new users cannot access their profile to add avatars and many other features...

If, after a full, 24-hour time period....from when a new user registerd.....there are still issues, address them here....

Also, new users need to avail themselves of our FAQs...most issues, not all, will be addressed.

Thanks for explaining having to "wait". I appreciate that. On another note, does the user profile allow you to view the posts like I did when I was just a lurker? Now, when I'm here, I see the most recent post first in a thread and I like the opening post first with the other posts following down. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks!

You can change how you view threads once you have access to changes.

Actually, you registered on Monday, March 2nd at 3:45 EST. And your account is fully activated. My hunch you're not going to the User Control Panel as you need to.

Upper left corner of any page, you'll see User CP. Click it, and you will be taken to where you can make changes to your preferences, avatar, signature, etc...

If you are clicking view public profile, that's what everyone else sees. You must click User CP to make changes to your account.

Before posting, I had visited User CP, then Edit Profile, showed the normal non-activated message.

It's working now though. Thanks

I'm having the same problem, being unable to access my User CP. I registered on Friday I believe, 3/12. I've tried to access through the User CP in the upper left hand corner and just receive the "you don't have permission" thing.

If this is a weekend deal and won't be addressed until Monday the 16th, don't worry about it, I can wait.

If it's because of a secret deal that I haven't read about ie: Jumping up and down while patting the top of my head with my left hand and rubbing my stomach with my right, while singing "Let Freedom Ring"....let me know, I have a metal plate in my head and I'm tone deaf.

Thanks

The Blogshevik (http://www.blogshevik.com)

Edit: Whoever just fixed my problem here, a huge thanks to ya....excellent customer service.

Same problem --- submit button does not work on normal reply but quick reply works. I also cannot create new threads or I would have.

The subscription you paid for is Hannity Insider, because it does not cost to post on these boards.

As to the Linux issues, you can try Goose, Iggy or Lee Kington, but I'm not familiar and can't be of much use.

It's nice to know that someone "vets" people before giving them access to this website-you guys give yourselves more time before deciding on something than our congress gave themselves before spending a bazillion dollars!!!

Your account looks fine.

Upper left corner of any page, you'll see User CP. Click it, and you will be taken to where you can make changes to your preferences, avatar, signature, etc...

If you are clicking view public profile, that's what everyone else sees. You must click User CP to make changes to your account.

Why is that after I finish replying to a subject that some are entered, and the longer ones are not? Is there a time limit?

Thank God I found this thread before I started a new one to ask this question. I don't usually pull that off in new forums :).

I'm a new user and would also like to set my posts to read from oldest to newest (linearly). I'm assuming this is possible since other people mentioned it. Can I get my CP unlocked or otherwise find out how to make the change? Thanks!

Hello.
I joined more than 24 hours ago and I am still unable to access the options in my UserCP (yes, I am using the UserCP link at the top left of the screen).

It allows me to get to the UserCP itself, but anytime I click on anything else (edit details, edit options, etc..) I get the message that I do not have permission to access the page.

Any help you can offer is appreciated.
Thank you.

There is no reason, from our end, why you should have any problems. While NOT logged into the site.... Delete Temp internet files (cache) and cookies. Then log back in and access.

If we're unable to change our own settings, could the default member view please be set to oldest first as most of the rest of the messageboards out there are?

Trying to keep up with a hot-topic thread while logged in and being forced to use newest first is not fun.

MXdad, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Hi,

Just need a little help getting to my settings. It has been 24 hours and about 8 minutes since my welcome message yesterday after verification and I still cannot access my settings.

I would normally not be such a pain, but I cannot stand the reversed thread post sort that was imposed on me once I registered.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I joined here a couple years back as Bicycleman. I had almost about 150 posts. I have been away for awhile and decided to come back. I couldn't remember my password. My old email that I originally registered with has changed several times so I was forced to re-register as Bicycleman. It would appear that my original account has been deleted, forcing me to start all over. Is that what you are doing now, purging old accounts where there has been no activity for awhile?

Yes. It helps clear up the database. Go forth, post and have fun. ;)

I have 8 posts to my name and still can't access account changes, not that it matters, but I just thought I would let you know.

If I wanted to send a PM, I don't seem to be able to do that either. How could that be accomplished?

What time did you re-join? Has an entire 24-hours passed since you registered?

Meriweather
November 13th, 2009, 6:19 pm
My question about PM's was never answered. Does that function no longer exist here, or is it in front of me, and I have missed it?

It's still here. If you can't see it yet, I'm guessing it's because of the 24-hour vetting process.

On my screen, right under "The Sean Hannity Show" is the message, "Welcome, Meriweather. Underneath that is, "You last visited....", and directly underneath that is "Private Messages:"
