one of my best friends and I were talking about decorating our houses for Christmas. We both have empty nests now with our children grown. We were discussing how it's kind of sad now to decorate the house all alone; the kids used to always help. One year I never even put any ornaments on the tree. Tree and lights, but no ornaments. It was great at night, but a bit weird during the day. She laughed b/c she had done the same thing one year. (it's amazing how much we have in common) Anyway...so this year I will be going to her house to help her decorate and she will be coming to mine to help me.

I wasn't going to do it at first, b/c I always thought it was more for high school and college kids, but lately more and more adults have done it. I inquired of everyone on my e-mailing list, and out of my friends and family most of them have FB over "myspace"...so I went ahead and set one up.
(I'm actually up to 23 or so friends now..... :) )


someone also told me it was a good way to find old friends, and at first I wasn't too interested in that either. I figure, hey, there's a reason they're no longer in my life ... but then I was looking at my old high school and it was kinda fun to see people I used to go to school with. haven't asked any of them to be my friend yet, but I might.....

I do understand...two of my biggest reasons for finally joining were (1) to reconnect with distant family members (2) a good friend who lives in South Africa.

OK....so I did set up a facebook page. I set it up primarily to reconnect with family who live all over the place, and for the most part, that is what I have done. I haven't even looked for old classmates or friends.
However, this morning, I received an e-mail from my best friend in Florida. She and I have known each other since I moved in next door to her the summer before we both started the second grade, so we have known each other almost forever. She has found an old classmate of ours. This other girl (whose name really is Melinda) and I were friends in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade, when I moved away. She does remember me. I've sent a friend request, but I'm waiting for her to accept it. How completely fun is that??? :)
