I'm "old" and bought a Wii....only because I can't get into war games or football.
I can bowl, golf, play ping-pong, tennis, baseball etc.....and physically get into it.
It is pretty good exercise for alot of couch potatoes.

I really like my wii, but because it is so awesome some of the games are hard to get - they sell faster than they are produced.

I don't know how old you are, or what your "fun" level is.....
I'm just saying that I'm in my 50's and the last system I bought (before the Wii) was Intellivision. (Other than what I got for the kiddies)
Take it for what it's worth.
Basically depends on your age I guess.

I have a 360 and a Wii.
The 360 is really for gamers that like shoot-em-ups (Halo, etc)
The Wii is more for the casual player. Mario kart, Wii sports, Tiger woods golf are good games.

And he is still doing it in real life...................

What type of games do you want to play? Are graphics important? Is this just for you or for kids? Is online play important to you? How much are you willing to pay?
There are many things to decide. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are similar, but the Wii is very different.

I am 40, my last system was Nintendo 64.
I want to have fun, but I don't want stuff that is too complex.
I just want to enjoy myself, and kind of lose myself in the distraction.
I also may want to play with my wife...well you know what I mean.

I just got Xbox Live and there is quite a bit of fun stuff in the Arcade. I have downloaded the trials for Lumines, Alien Hominid, and Castle Crashers. All of them are a blast. Lumines is similar to Tetris but it is different. It's hard to describe. Alien Hominid is a side-scrolling 2D cartoony shooter, and Castle Crashers is a 2D (with slightly 3D elements) that is like a side-scrolling action games. When I get some Xbox points I'm going to purchase all of them. None of them are complex and they are all kid friendly (at least the parts I've played).

I'm 46 and I've been playing with the X-Box for several years. Console Game Systems are the way too go, and I have completely given up on PC based games. Console games are easy and fun. Since I have enjoyed the original X-Box so much I bought...I mean, Santa bought the X-Box 360 and we have it waiting in a closet. :)
I'll probably pick-up a Wii this summer.

We got a wii hidden for under the tree this year. It is hard to keep from digging it out and hooking it up...
This year will be a WII Christmas as most gifts will revolve around accessorizing this potential black hole.

No kidding about the black hole. With the X-360 you have to spend an additional$64.95 right off the bat to have an extra controller. That ain't right, it should have come with TWO controllers.
Ah well, they got me.
I'm planning on picking up a Guitar Hero bundle pack that comes with the guitar, mic, and drums all in one box for $199.00. Me, my wife, and son can fill out the group. We just have to come up with a cool name.

WII is the way to go. My wife would never play games with me. I had a PS one, and now have PS2 and Xbox. She couldn't get into any gmes until we got the WII. She loves to bowl and play Mario Cart. The games are great and not too complex, though be prepared for the possibility of buying a lot of accessories.

Mario Cart Racing is great! You don't really need the steering wheels, but they do make it seem like driving.

My son has the Wii. It's a pretty cool system.
The Xbox 360 still has the "red ring of death" problems; a friend of mine just had his die a few weeks ago, and it was a newer one and had a fan.
The PS2 is my favourite, but a bit dated. If you meant "PS3", then don't get it if you have a bunch of PS2 games, because it can't play the PS2 games. (Even the old 60G and 80G ones weren't "guaranteed" compatible.) Of course, now they've got a new 80G that may be compatible, but the 40G was not. I probably wouldn't risk it.

I was an Atari fan! :D
(Still got one. Not my original; that gave up the ghost a while back. Had to get another one off eBay a few years ago.)
Adventure - ya just can't beat that; the first "well-known" Easter Egg, too.

I've got a 360 but my mother has a Wii which my kids play all the time and I've played a bit. It really depends on what you want. If you want a system with really great games that will make you want to play for hours and hours then go 360 all the way. If you want a system with silly parlor type games that is fun in small doses of about 5 minutes but boring after that go for a Wii.

PS3 man. Complete home entertainment system. High level graphics, blue ray, etc. Only problem is the cost of games. And of course you don't get the exercise the Wii offers.
You can also burn blue ray media directly from the net if you're one of those shifty types.
XBox is easy to mod.(You can add additional hard drive space for greater media storage and you don't deal with "load time").

The Wii is a better party game simply because for party games you need something simple that everyone can immediately play and without any kind of learning curve. The extremely short duration between turns also helps with the party element.

My son has that, or one of the games in the series, on Grandma's Wii. :eh: That smilie pretty much sums up my opinion of it. Watching their character guzzle a pop (you have to shake the Wii remote while doing it) and then belch to knock down buildings is mildy amusing the first time but just dumb after that. Though my son, age 12, nearly explodes laughing each and every time.

I agree that Wii is far more fun to play in groups. Whenever we have a family gathering, it has become the habit to pull the wii out at whoever's home we are and bring our own Wii-motes (complete with Mii's) and play Wii play or Wii Olympics. Bowling, Baseball, Golf, Swimming...we had a blast anytime we have pulled it out. My son says that it was hard to use the Wii-mote for the Zelda game (the swordfighting was not what he expected and he was disappointed).
Xbox and PS2 don't really have any new games coming out, but the old games you can get cheap and used (and they would be new for you!).
Xbox360 and Xbox offer Xbox live (and if you are on Netflix you can get movies right from Xbox live). They also have fun games to download. My brother just got Settler's of Catan the other day and it was even more fun to play online than the board game. Xbox360 can also be used as a DVD player (I think).
We have burned through 3 PS2's in our house and our son is getting a PS3 from his grandparents this year. The PS3 has a blueray disc player built in. You can get PS3's in varying amounts of hard drive disc space (40GB to 160 GB). Cost increases with the size of the Harddrive.
I don't play shooter games, but I enjoy things like Tetris. I like the sports games on the Wii and playing as a family, but when I play games alone or with just hubby, I tend to play the Xbox360. I can play Tetris and board games on Xbox360.

I am still having a hard time deciding.
It seems that Xbox360 would be more suitable to me, who would get more in depth with games.
And it appears that Wii would be better for my wife, who isn't that great with hand eye coordination and playing video games.

I finally got my Wii. I have been looking at walmart online for a long time. They have been out of stock for months.
We got Wii Sports, and we ordered Mario Cart and Kung Fu Panda. We are having a blast.
I have been playing with my Wee wife.
Can anyone suggest some good games.
My wife isn't much of a gamer and she isn't great in the hand eye thing. Anything simple she can have fun with?
